Really great tour. The historical administration building was the highlight for us. The fossil museum hiding inside was such a surprise bonus - some amazing and special fossils from all over the world hiding there! The tour around the Mt Morgan streets to see the historic buildings and hear about the history of the town was also very interesting. It... More

There is not such a lot close to Rockhampton unless heading to the coast so the thought of checking out a bit of early and ongoing history was appealing. It also meant going for a drive in a part of the country not seen before. John and his lovely daughter met us at the Tourist Information Centre at 10:30 on... More

This 2 hour tour led by local volunteer John who's knowledge of the mine history and the town was very detailed, the tour still went ahead despite there being just myself and my husband. John was so passionate about the preservation of the mine and towns fascinating gold rush history and extremely knowledgable concerning the ecological impact too, hich was... More

We didn't know anything about Mt Morgan so booked ourselves on the tour to be educated on the town's history. And we weren't disappointed as the two hour tour was extremely thorough and not rushed covering every aspect of life in the town and the mine itself.

We went on a tour of the Mount Morgan gold mining site and the town itself. Unfortunately I didn't find the tour very interesting and wish I didn't go in the first place. The tour guide had a lot of knowledge about the place that seemed very trivial to me. I felt strange to be in a tour about a... More

We went there, but there were no tours, we didnt realise you have to ring the tour and he will take you out if there are enough attendees. We were able to view the goldmine from the lookout and it was worth the drive, and to check out the town where time has stood still, there's a great op shop... More

Mt. Morgan is a town that rose and fell with its gold mine, which has gone from wealth generator to an environmental challenge of significant proportions. Definitely take the 2h tour if you are in town. The knowledgable guide helps put what you see into context and you actually get on the site of the old mine this way. But... More

Mount Morgan is a great place to experience want a mining town was like 100 years ago. Little has changed it seems, but far fewer people there! Worth a drive around to look at the buildings and houses and to visit the museums that evoke the mine and town that earned the money to underpin the start of British Petroleum.... More
