This was highly recommended on TripAdvisor and I thought it would be a great thing to do on a very cold, rainy, overcast day in early July... BUT I wasn't really thinking what the view would be like if I got to the top. Halfway up there is an amazing lookout.. where you do get views across stunning vistas.

BUT when you get to the sign for the park halfway up Mount Archer, you realise on a day like I visited that I was not going to see a thing because of the fog. I loved the part that I did experience , the drive is a little hairy... but there is no doubt that this is a beautiful place to visit and should be put on your list of places to see.

If I make it to Rockhampton again, this is going to be on top of my list to try again.

Was a great lookout! Excellently presented but tourists really messed up the toilets which is a shame. Long walks not open until May 2022. Tourist Booklet from Rockhampton didn’t say this and went prepared for a long hike but had to abort. However, the lookout is definitely worth it. Flat walk and easy for those having trouble walking or a wheelchair. Really enjoyed the effort put in such as gabion cages, corten steel, walkway and so on.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, we are glad you enjoyed your visit! We aren't aware of any closures to the hiking trails up there as visitors have still been doing our trails. There was some back-burning taking place around that time so perhaps they were not accessible temporarily. We hope you get to enjoy a hike next time you are here!

Nice drive up and view over the city is worth it. Will be great when all the construction is done as there will be a playground and coffee shop.

The drive up to the Lookout is stunning and when we visited, there were lots of upgrades going on.
The views from various sections were superb and the children's playground will be brilliant when finished as will the various walks.
Certainly worth the drive up.

The first surprise, arriving late afternoon, was the number of locals walking up the long twisting road to Fraser Park at the top. But the road is wide enough to safely pass them.

At the top, there are a few lookouts and walks available, from short to quite adventures like the Zamia Walk.

Fraser Lookout was excellant and well worth doing the circuit

Grasstree Lookout is average and ok if you want to experience these native trees

Zamia Walk looked a bit more challenging and I gave it a miss

But overal, its a great way to get a view over Rockhampton. Well worth it

Just a short drive out of the city to find this. The walk to the lookouts was easy (suitable for prams and wheelchairs). The views from all lookouts was spectacular.

Money well spent with two new viewing platforms of the city and surrounding areas. Upgraded walking track and a new kids zone. A big plus for Rockhampton.
