This experience is absolutely essential if visiting in the region. Mick our tour guide was sensational - highly knowledgeable of the area and able to answer any question we threw at him plus his sense of humour and knack for pumping everyone up to get involved is a real talent, especially at 7:30 in the morning ;) Everything from pickup at our hotel to drop off again was seamless and we learned so many facts about the wildlife and environment along the way. Unfortunately it was lightly raining during our croc tour along the river so we only saw the tip of a tail but it did not spoil our experience in the least. Safe to say the waterfall trip that followed was an absolute highlight. Rough riding on the back of a 4WD through the unspoiled forest to the most beautiful and secluded swimming spot was exhilarating and we even got to feed and get up close with the fish and tiny turtles living in the water. 10/10, could not recommend the experience more and a huge thanks to Mick for making the day. To say this was hands down one of the absolute highlights of our trip would be an understatement. The value for money in this package is outstanding for what you get and we only wish we had perhaps booked the full day tour as it was just so fantastic and we could have stayed longer! However for those with limited time, you get everything you could want and more even with the half day.

While it is the sights you come to see on this tour it was the guide that made the tour. Chris was an outstanding guide who was passionate about the region, very helpful and attentive to our needs. He didn’t stop looking for Cassowaries or Crocodiles throughout the trip. His wonderful morning coffee and fresh Lamington on Thornton Beach were a real treat. The end of the tour was a wonderful surprise and one we wont forget. This tour deserves its top rating.

Thank you so much for your review. Chris is a great guide who apparently talks up his coffee making skills! We are very glad to have him on our team. Thanks again, Grant Knight Daintree Discovery tours

Our Tour Guide Kim accentuated the beautiful landscape of Port Douglas on the 19th of March 2021 (AM session).

Not only did we get to see the wondrous Daintree River on a River Cruise (including a thrilling 4m crocodile sighting), we also experienced great learnings on the history of North Queensland.

The second part of the morning encompassed a great breakfast at a local cafe (the homemade scones were to die for!) as well as a drive up into the rainforest, where we swapped our shuttle bus for a 4WD and got to take in all the pleasures of the beautiful flora and fauna of the Daintree Rainforest.

We really learned a lot and it was great pleasure to be guided by Kim the morning! 10/10 I I highly recommend this tour!

This was a full, fun day out, plenty of sights to see and the commentary by our guide, Richard, was very interesting and informative, he really knows the area and history.
We saw a father Cassowary with 2 chicks in the bush by the roadside, we saw 3 crocodiles whilst on the river cruise. The river cruise was fun, the guide was funny and so passionate about the area and wildlife.
Lunch was good, burgers and chips or steak, fish and chips etc, a roadside cafe lunch. They did have a vegan and vegetarian option which was great.
The four wheel drive over the dairy farmland at the end of the day was a novel way to arrive at the Cassowary Falls. This spot was quite breathtaking and the swim was beautifully refreshing.
Only disappointment was the tour was advertised as being in a comfortable Mercedes van however reality was an old Toyota van with bad suspension so it was a bit of a let down.

Thank you very much for your review. Glad you enjoyed your tour out with Richard, sounds like there was plenty of wildlife that day. As far as the Mercedes goes, we have had to change things up a bit since Covid. If we have 5 guests or less, we use the Mercedes Benz. If we have between 6 and 9 guests, we use the Toyota. This decision was made to give our guests a bit more space. I am not sure what we are doing in the future, really depends on the virus and what people expect. So at this stage it is one or the other. The other thing we did change was the lunch. We are getting plenty of good comments about this, so that one is a good one! Thanks again, and I will take your comment on board. We had a lovely day with Adam as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and passionate! We learnt so much about the rainforest from him. Our bus was very comfortable and air conditioned and he gave amazing commentary all the way through about local animals, trees, insects, everything! We met an Aboriginal guide who gave us an insight into their culture and way of life in the Daintree which was really nice. Our river guide Bruce was very insightful: we learnt about crocodiles and river animals, birds and plant life . Also would like to mention the local eateries we went to. All were spectacular and scrumptious!
The tour was very well planned and executed. Being in a small group of 10 people made the experience better too. It was a very memorable day and we highly recommend it to anyone wishing to appreciate the Daintree rain forest 🙂.

Thank you for your detailed review of your full day tour with us! The start of our tour with a traditional smoking ceremony by a local Kuku Yalanji guide is a highlight for many of our guests, and we’re glad to hear you enjoyed this too. Discovering the Daintree with your personal guide and the other guides along the way, makes for a memorable day out. Thanks again for your 5-star review.

We spent the day on this tour of the Daintree and two other National Parks. This was great value in a small group tour allowing for excellent opportunities to experience the best of this World Heritage area. Our guide Richard gave us a wonderful day. His relaxed approach and informative commentary helped make an incredible experience exceptional. We were collected from our resort and visited Mossman Gorge first. This is a beautiful river Gorge in the Rainforest with so many things to see. Richard's knowledge of the plants and history of the forest helped to understand why this pristine wilderness area is so important. We then continued to Cape Tribilation with a stop for morning tea, provided by the tour. Percolated coffee and a yummy Aussie lammington.

We had ample time to explore the places we stopped including the lookout and beach at the Cape. We saw a number of interesting insects, birds and a large goanna at this spot.

From here we travelled back to the Daintree Village via a yummy icecream maker and the Alexandra lookout where we could see the Daintree River entering the Coral Sea and the low isles of the Great Barrier Reef. At the village we had the best lunch at the local Cafe. Perfectly cooked barramundi with a beautiful salad and chips, all included in the tour price. With a yummy lunch inside, we boarded the Daintree River cruise for another view of the rainforest. We soon saw our first Crocodile sliding into the river. We found a larger Crocodile downstream and marvelled at the tranquillity of the river in the rainforest.

To finish a perfect day Richard took us to a secluded waterfall and swimming hole in another park. The swim was lovely and the spot was just ours for that time. We saw the fish and turtles fed then enjoyed the journey back to our resort. A perfect day out. A must do tour in Port Douglas.

We really enjoyed the full day tour that took in the Mosman Gorge, Cape Tribulation, Daintree Forest and Daintree River. Kim, our guide, was informative and interesting - which helped make the day a real success for all. The final part of the day swimming at the waterfall is really special - I’d recommend this trip to anyone wanting to sample what the area has to offer.

Thank you so much for your review GrahamH4. Great to hear that you found your day out with Kim informative and interesting, this is exactly what we strive for. The swim is a really great way to truly experience the Daintree and all it has to offer. It always reminds me of those old Tarzan movies, without having to fight off crocodiles though! start with a drive through Mossman to the Daintree and set of on a leisurely cruise for a hour. Then off to the local Cafe for a Devonshire tea followed by the highlight a trip to a privately owned waterfall for a swim and feed the fish and turtles.
Gary was an excellent guide, informative, professional and a good bloke.
I would recommend this tour for all ages and fitness levels.

We had the full day Daintree Rainforest tour and our experience was amazing. The tour delivered everything it promised. Riverboat cruise was exciting informative, fun and overall great, thanks to the skipper Griffith. All sites were well chosen, with great timing. Lunch and tea were tasty and well above expectation, in great natural settings. Our guide Kim was excellent throughout the day, with his unmatched energy, great in-depth informative presentations and friendly relaxed approach. Overall a great highlight to our NFQ experience!

My husband, 8 year old daughter and myself took the morning tour with Peer yesterday and despite not seeing any crocodiles loved every minute. Peer and his colleague Jan on the croc spotting boat were absolutely brilliant. Complete local experts and it was clear to see how passionate they both were about their area.

Compared to lots of other local tour providers, we felt this was very reasonably priced especially given the fact that they only take small groups.

If you’re looking for an insight into the Daintree area through the eyes of a local, this is the tour for you.

Thanks for your review. I am so glad that you enjoyed yourself not only with Peer, but also with Jan on the cruise, even though the crocodiles were hiding that day. It is a beautiful area and well worth a trip along the river. This time of the year is about 50/50 for crocodile sightings. They are always there, but not always visible. But, it is still very nice out there, and with some great local knowledge, it is also very interesting. Of course the highlight though is always Cassowary Falls!
