The Marina is lovely, a short walk from Macrossan Street, with views over the water of all the yachts and other amazing boats moored there. We kept going back to Hemingway's Brewery, we loved it, such a relaxed vibe, good food and drinks and great service. I can recommend the Gin Paddle!

Great spot to visit especially if you haven’t chosen your tours - all the companies in one spot. Some cute little markets, an ice creamery and a pub! All your needs in one spot! Stunning views of the boats and water.

Marina Mirage Shopping Centre is well due either a demolish or a revamp. Most of the centres shops are empty.
It's a shame as the Marina is the set off point for a number of Sailing and Snorkelling tours and is missing the opportunity to capture those tourist's looking to top off the day with a meal and drink in nautical atmosphere.

Terrible, worn out building, vacant shops, expensive food places. Boats leave for trips to the reef.
Disappointing for port Douglas visitors.

Whilst staying in Port Douglas for 8 days in January, we met lots of tourists from USA, JAPAN, GERMANY, ITALY to name a few. And all of them shared the same thoughts as us....'OMG what happened to Marina Mirage".
1/3 of shops are empty/for lease. Its earily quiet. On the day we went there specifically to collect/pay for tickets on the Quicksilver Reef tour, there was not a soul around except for the shop staff.
Most of the shops that are opened are not worth venturing into anyway. But on saying that, there are some great souvenir shops & a great store that hand paints tiles used as fridge magnets & mugs - great for personalising a gift. We bought lots from this store as its local.
The icecreamery/cafe is gone/for lease.
The place seemed so run-down it needs a facelift/reno. One of the tourists told me that the toilets were absolutely filfthy, like they hadn't been cleaned for months!!! Luck we didn't need to use them.
DON'T BOTHER GOING.....YOU ARE NOT MISSING OUT ON ANYTHING - EVEN THE MARINA IS TATTY & OLD....AND THE WATER WAS MUDDY/DIRTY LOOKING ON THE DAY WE WENT!!
Seriously the people/company that own this joint should be ashamed of themselves to let it go so badly.....as its one of the attractions to Port Douglas!! But I bet that the Macrossan St vendors are happy about this place being so bad....as it brings everyone to them instead!!!

Never tire of walking on the jetties to look at all of these fabulous boats, then enjoying a drink at Hemingway's or even breakfast at Lure.

Visited the marina twice. Once to board the vessel for our trip to the great barrier reef. There is a microbrewery and a place for breakfast / lunch. Great views

My partner and I, along with our 2 year old son, spent almost 5 months sailing the Queensland coast in our catamaran and visited many beautiful destinations.
Unfortunately, Port Douglas wasn't one of them. I first visited Port Douglas 20 years ago when it was a snobbish and upmarket resort town - I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.
We spent 3 nights at the over-priced and run-down marina. The attached shopping complex (which caters mainly to tourists doing boat trips to the outer islands and reefs) was three quarters empty (half seemed in a constant state of renovation) and the shops that were open all stocked the same souvenir items and over-priced resort wear. We didn't eat at the cafe / restaurant, but the menu seemed over-priced as well.
The main street is pretty, with lovely landscaped gardens and rows of eateries, and there is a charming little church on the beach / river, but that was as good as it got.
Watch out for the sandflies, especially in still, humid weather!

I loved shopping here as it has such a large variety of clothes and souvenirs, I picked up a summer dress here that everyone wants at home but can't get it in Melbourne only in Queensland,so that's a bonus. Friendly staff always,

Love shopping here, plenty of bargains, friendly staff, great for souvenir shopping, for clothes shopping, water sports, booking tours, found everything I was looking for and if I couldn't the staff didn't hesitate in helping me, everything you need in one spot.
