I've been distressed in recent times about reports of coral bleaching due to the increasing acidity of the ocean but free diving in Michaelmas Cay made my heart leap. The coral was thriving and the water was teaming with tropical fish. We saw a stingray and many giant clams and swam with green turtles. We swam over to the cay... More

Had a great day out on the reef, well organised by staff. Just fantastic once your out there on the reef, very safe lifeguards and instruction given to those who required help with snorkelling. Would recommend.

Never thought we would snorkel, but we did it was a great experience. I couldn't believe what an experience we had, right down to seeing breaching whales.

This reef was very pretty, and the island was nice to stand on, but since we also dove on other parts of the reef, I think there were better spots. This is completely dependent on water, wind, and weather conditions and it may have been better on other days.

Had a 2 hour boat trip to reach this venue which is at least 45km out to sea. A large sand bar miles from nowhere mainly inhabited by protected wild life. Great for snorkelling, but you do need calm weather to enjoy it better.

We did a day trip from Cairns, and one of our stops was Michaelmans Cay. The snorkeling here was amazing. There is an incredible amount of sea life around, with good reef to view. We saw around 4 or 5 turtles while we were snorkeling, which made the trip entirely worth it. Would definitely recommend this stop for anyone looking... More

We travelled out to Michaelmas Cay on Passions of Paradise (see my separate review). It was a little choppy, and a bit wet, but that really didn't matter because the Cay is reasonably protected from the swells, and with the rain, well, we were already wet and in a wetsuit. In my 15-ish years of diving and snorkelling, I've never... More
