This market offers great value for fresh fruit and veggies. But no meat or seafood is ever available for sale, unlike markets in Melbourne or else where.
I picked a few bargains along the way; if we like tropical fruit, they have a lot on offers, some are very dear and some are reasonable.
Mangoes of all different types are so cheap: from one dollar to three dollars a kilo.
I love this market and I wish it were available near I live.
Some of the veggies are so fresh and new to me too.
coconut juice and sugarcane juice help reduce the heat of the day for people

Tourists - forget the Night Markets and come to Rusty’s instead. It’s popular with locals as well as tourists due to the large variety and quality of the offerings. There are almost 200 different stalls ranging from organic fruit & veg (this is the most popular) to jewellery & bric a brac, natural therapies, to coffee, sweets and light meals. From humble beginnings in 1975, Rusty’s is now a bustling three-day event (Friday to Sunday starting 5 am) that many look forward to every week. There is literally something for everyone at this Cairns icon which is right in Cairns CBD just a block from Cairns Central and is 100% undercover. I work 5 minutes walk from here and enjoy a stroll through of a Friday on my lunch break.

A vast and extensive farmers market with heaps of variety. From supermarket stables to more exotic fruits and vegetables this market offered a lot. All of the produce we purchased was much cheaper than supermarket prices. All of the food stalls looked delicious as well. Try the sugarcane juice it went down a treat.

Although this market sells mainly fresh fruit and vegetables, it does also offer a variety of other offerings such as cooked food, coffee, knick knacks, pastries, freshly squeezed juice, massages and more. This market is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The quality of the produce is the best I’ve seen at any markets. If I was a Cairns local I would be visiting this market every week. It also offers different types of fruits that we don’t see in Brisbane.

The only negative comment I will make is that seating for dining is very limited. When we bought food we had to stand up and eat it.

Colourful, buzzing, great range of fruit and veg, plus the odd live singer, cafe with awesome breads and cakes, and a few jewellery/craft stalls. A must do, even just to take photos. Four avocados for $2! Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.

If you live in Cairns or are visiting the town, Rusty's Market is the place to visit for your fruit and vegetables both for variety and price. Others items are available in the market but are not necessarily as good value as shops. Worth a visit.

The market is open Friday/Saturday/Sunday and is energetic and vibrant. Full of fruit and vegies, knick’ knacks, a small butchery and meals to eat there or takeaway. There is a specialist Vietnamese coffee shop in Grafton St entrance. Always busy. Top value but there are crowds.

We stumble upon this weekend market on our last day of the trip. It was indeed a wonderful gem with a nice variety of food to taste and small souvenirs to purhase. They are open Fri & Sat 5 am-6pm; Sun 5am-3pm.

One of the highlights of a visit to cairns is Rusty's markets. The variety of tropical and subtropical produce is mind boggling and I always allow plenty of time for sampling the delicious street food - Japanese, Korean, Thai, Laotian, Pacific Islander, Italian etc... also the great bakeries and coffee carts.
