It was my first time to drive overseas. Cars are less and I enjoyed scenic view. The weather was slightly unstable and it rained.

We travelled all the way east from Darwin, via Mount Isa, so we saw a great deal of dry, dry land. Coming to the Atherton Tablelands was an absolute revelation. It was like emerging from the Kalahari Desert into the Garden of Eden. So green!

We just stayed at On The Wallaby. It was economy friendly, clean, cosy, super friendly and the food is sourced locally and is excellent. Not over the top prices either. Highly recommended!
