We've visited Atherton Tablelands a number of times, usually driving around for a full day. There are many beautiful waterfalls like Milla Milla Falls, and several tourist attractions such as Paronella Park. There's also a lot of small restaurants along the route too. It's a great day's touring.

The Atherton tablelands has so any hidden gems. Enjoy a good coffee from various coffee shops at Maranda, Sky Blue Atherton and Yungaburra. The Cathedral fig tree is worth the drive and walk, to get tgere you do drive down a windy road, but it is certain,y worth the drive, take a lpicnic and enjoy the countryside.

We stayed in an Airbnb in Millaa Milla and toured the Tablelands for 2 days, seeing waterfalls galore, eating picnics in immaculate sites and seeing all types of wildlife. Definitely recommend staying up there rather than just a 1 day tour from Cairns

There are so many things to see, do and taste. Organise your travel times from different areas or you will be backtracking lots of the time. Tourists can see cows being milked, taste their cheeses, chocolate and desserts at Gallos Dairy, Coffee Works for dreamy coffee and gifts, Crystal Caves for great jewellery and gifts, Herberton Historic Village, but do... This beautiful region of near Cairns, Queensland is a landscape mixed of rainforest, wetlands and savanna. Birds and wildlife like tree kangaroos and wallabies, cassowaries and reptiles. Lots of bugs for them all to feed on too. With rainforests disappearing at the rate they are we are so lucky to have this one preserved for generations.

As long as you don't mind winding roads up and down the mountain it's well worth going. There's are a number of towns, Mareeba, Karanda and Ravenshoe to see with some spectacular views on the way. Don't forget it's quite a bit colder up here and I have even seen snow in Ravenshoe one year.

We had a fun day, swimming in Lake Eacham, at the most impressive (extremely cold) millaa millaa falls, and observing platypus at Yungaburra, and the amazing Curtain Fig Tree.

Just a leisurly 1 hour drive from Cairns and you are in a completely different world from the tropical coast. Rolling hills with mountain ranges, deep gorges, lakes and waterfalls. Tablelands are well known amongst locals for numerous markets which are held every Saturday and Sunday in different towns and villages with Yungaburra market being the largest one for the... More

This is truly once in a lifetime scenery. If you go to all the trouble to stopover in Cairns, you owe it to yourself to at least spend one day driving up and back through the Tablelands. This is quite simply WOW country in so many spots! Not everywhere, but pretty close to it. Pack some drinks. A sandwich or... More
