Beautiful all year - even if it's raining.

Always at least 5 degrees cooler on the Tablelands than in Cairns. Beautiful area and best to see driving by car.

Rolling green hills, spectacular waterfalls & rainforest everywhere! Atherton Tablelands exceeded our expectations. We stayed two nights but could easily have spent longer. Plenty to do and see for free or else also some paid attractions around. Get to the waterfalls (any of them) early (8-9am) and you may be lucky enough to have them to yourself.

We rented a car and drove out to the Milla Milla waterfalls for a day trip. We didn't go in the water but instead took pictures and just enjoyed the view for a bit. We headed back and stopped at Lake Barrine which was even more beautiful! The lake was honestly one of the most gorgeous I've ever seen and... More

The volcanic crater lakes, the waterfalls, the food, the diversity of this area needs to be seen and experienced.

We loved our drive here. Unfortunately the Gillies highway is very windy so my little one did get car sick. But so many beautiful spots to stop and see and take gorgeous photos. Definitely worth the drive.

Well worth a visit there is so much to see it is not promoted that well and should be you will need more than a day here as there is just to much to see , it is a pity Australians travel to places overseas as we have so much here .

The Atherton Tablelands offer extraordinary visual delights, we did the waterfall trail and went to the giant figtree, great photo opportunities, we swam at the waterfalls and drove through some amazing countryside, the driving at times was challenging as I normally only drive in the city and this has some very twisting trips up and down the mountains......fun lots and... The Atherton Tablelands is an incredible, safari-like landscape that proves the geographic diversity of Queensland. Mighty trees and rolling, lush, green hills cover the countryside. Multiple loop drives and short walks provides activities for both the active and leisure travelers. A must do if you are visiting the nearby coastal area around Cairns. The region is dotted with spectacular waterfalls... More

There is so much to see from coastline between Cairns and Port Douglas before going inland (and uphill) to the Tablelands. Cooler climate with forests, towns, waterfalls to explore. Suggest stay overnight in one of the towns before returning to Cairns from the south end of the Tablelands.

We drove from Cairns to Milla Milla Waterfall and spent some relaxing time there. We went swimming and had a picnic lunch there. We then went to Lake Barrine and visited the Tea House. As recommended by other reviewers, we tried the scones with jam and cream which was delicious. The Tea House dated back in 1927 and there were... More
