Description:

Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef...

Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

There were just 30 of us on this trip, which is designed to be small to avoid crowds and give a rich experience of the GBR. From the outset staff were friendly, helpful and always with an eye to safety. The first stop -around 75 mins away was the idyllic island of Michaelmas Cay. It's unbelievably beautiful, and ideal if... More

Going with this small private company is definitely more than a very good decision. From the start on you can see and feel the harmony on board and the well structured organization. Good food on the cruise as well. Friendly staff and worth it to do it with this familiar operating business. Thanks so much for having an amazing time... More

GBR is easily one of the best places I've visited in the world and the day went well. Staff were friendly, good food and clean snorkelling equipment. Boat felt too small for the number of tourists and the journey was really bumpy. I had an amazing day but was very disappointed to be asked to pay AUD$5 for a PADI... More

My girlfriend and I travelled to Cairns with two musts on our program: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest & Cape Tribulation. Beforehand we were struck by the enormous amount of options for these trips. After some in-depth checks we chose Seastar Cruises Reef for our Great Barrier Reef tour. Boy, that was an excellent choice. This is... More

I thought this experience was just OK. The trip to the reef is pretty long (about an hour one way), and the boat is loud enough that conversation is difficult. For the most part, the crew disappeared during the trip out and back. A couple of them seemed nice and friendly, but others acted as if we were a nuisance.... More

More care factor from the staff when there is not 200 people on board. They actually remember your name. Staff knowledgable about reef life and very considerate of the couple of unfortunate folls with a bit of seasickness We had two kids, 5&7 and both really loved the snorkelling, and were given every option to snorkel and see the reef... 1. Hastings reef is lovely. Could not have scuba dived and snorkelled without our instructor Chelsey. Thanks again! V troubled you too much..:) 2. The whole crew is friendly and helpful with instructions, taking care of seasick guests, supervision during snorkelling etc etc 3. Had taken an 'Avomine' before the trip and thankfully so, the water was terribly choppy. Don't... More

Such a wonderful experience spending the day on the Great Barrier Reef with the Seastar cruise. We snorkelled Hastings Reef & Michaelmas Cay for approx 2 hrs at each location which was a perfect amount of time to immerse ourselves in this incredible underwater world. The staff were professional, knowledgable, helpful & friendly; the boat was clean & in immaculate... More

Great experience! My family and I had an amazing time getting to explore both Michaelmas Cay and Hastings Reef with the comfort of feeling safe with the reassurance of the wonderful captain and crew. We saw lots of marine life including age old coral, sea cucumbers, fish and turtles! The crew were always happy to help and proved so in... More
