Description:

Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef...

Seastar Cruises premium reef cruise combines the outer Great Barrier Reef with a coral cay island. In only 1 1/4 hours the fast air-conditioned Seastar 1 can take you from Cairns to magnificent Michaelmas Cay, the largest of the local uninhabited coral cays. Cruising past Green Island, Upolu cay and Oyster reef Seastar is the first boat to arrive. After an enjoyable time here it is a short 20 minute cruise to the splendid Hastings Reef sitting on the very outer edge. This is where the corals thrive, well out from the coast away from the influence the rivers and streams, adjacent to the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. You will have 2 1/2 hours at each location. Plenty of time to go snorkeling, do a introductory dive, relax on the beach of the Island or join a tour in the Glass Bottom Boat at Hastings Reef. The day cruise on Seastar inlcudes Morning/Afternoon tea, high quality snorkel equipment, Wetsuit or Lycra suit (depending on the time of year), Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch, Reef Interpretation & Guided Snorkel Tours on each spot.

My wife and I had a great time on the Great Barrier Reef with Seastar. It's a small boat with a maximum of 36 guests per trip, and the lack of a crowd was a great bonus. We snorkeled in the morning near Michaelmas Cay, and after a quick lunch (which was pretty good) we zipped off to Hastings Reef... More

This was one of my favourite trips out of our four month travelling adventure. Boat and staff are lovely , boats nice a nippy for anyone who gets a bit sea sick. Hope one day we get to return and do it again.

Wow! What a day! We set off from arm E of the pier at around 8am. We visited two different parts of the reef and had plenty of time to explore the reef in all its glory. The crew were very friendly and helpful and instantly eased any of my worries about jumping into the water. When in the water... More

Easy to book online, the location of the Pier is pretty straight forward to find. First thing's first, the crew were absolutely amazing! It was the first time I went Snorkelling out at sea and I'm not a great swimmer- but the crew made sure everyone was super comfortable and had a fantastic time! Small group meant the experience was... More

We travelled in August and were subjected to some pretty lousy weather - rainy, windy and cold. It really takes a great organisation and great team to turn that kind of an initial impression into one of the best days of our holiday! And that's where Seastar are at their strongest. With only 36 people on our cruise, you're immediately... More

We had a great day on the reef. Louis, the dive master, was very nice, guided the group professionally and we saw lots of wildlife. But: the equipment on the boat needs an update (e.g mold on fins), the lunch was barely enough for everybody, the boat is nice but very loud. The atmosphere on the boat was not as... More

I have snorkeled in Hawaii and Mexico, but never before have I seen such an abundance and variety of fish! And so many large fish! One of the reasons I saw so many was that I was able to borrow a prescription snorkel mask! As I had only realized that morning that I had forgotten to bring my contacts I... More

I am so happy I chose Seastar for my Great Barrier Reef experience. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the staff. Everyone appeared relatively young to me but they all were incredible at their jobs. I could tell that safety was their priority and they were very kind and helpful to those who got seasick during our bumpy... More

The weather was not the best on the day of my trip but that didn't matter. It was windy and even poured rain at one point. It was great to leave early and be the first boat out at Michaelmas Cay. The number of birds on the island was amazing and the snorkeling was great. Growing up in New England... More
