We did the "Outer Great Barrier Reef" tour. I recommend to extend with the visit of Green Island and go around walking all the island (time is enough). The main activity offers more things that can be done, so even the price includes a lot of things to do, you are going to skip some.

Leaving from the Reef terminal in Cairns, the fast boat was packed. After an hour we stopped at Green Island, where most passengers got off. We continued on to the outer Reef (another hour) and the company's pontoon. This was handy for the snorkeling and the underwater viewing area. Food was included, although it was not to our children's liking!... More

We bought pack FDA2 which included the boat transfer to Green Island, a ride on a glass bottomed boat and hire of snorkelling gear. The boat was busy (must have been 200+ people) but once boarding started it was pretty quick and efficient. The trip over was windy but sea was quite calm, so an enjoyable time and we saw... More

I really enjoyed the Barrier Reef Cruise with Great Adventures. The scenery out to the Reef was beautiful, we went Snorkeling and the crew were all very professional and friendly. I went Snorkeling for the first time and was a bit anxious but the staff member was very helpful and I loved it. The food was nice, a bit of... More

Diving at the Marine World platform at the Great Barrier Reef was amazing. If there are too many people it's slow but well worth it. The scuba diving is far better than the snorkeling. Make sure you do two dives. It is worth it because the second dive you go out further.

We attended the Great Adventures day tour earlier in the year - a combined day tour spending sometime on Green Island first then to the Outer reef platform. It was a popular choice to many as the price was much better than doing these two destinations separately. I could see many people would fall into this mentality just as us... More

We had a great day snorkeling. The pontoon is nice because you can come and go from the water as much as you want. The company has perfected the processes of picking up fins and snorkel to get you in the water as soon as possible. A bit pricey - but a great day.

Took the Green Island and Great Barrier ReefAdventure. Although we clearly said that we are not going to do snorkelling, we were charged for the option that includes snorkelling. The vegetarian buffet lunch at the Outer Reef platform was awful. No proper announcements on what you can do in Green Island, there was no Eco Reef Talk by Marine Naturalist.... More

Absolutely fantastic day and must not be missed. A great day out with 3 hours travelling at sea to reach the platform. Options available to snorkel, helicopter flights, submersibles and underwater platforms.
