Muy básica y ascoso como tratan la persona.
Thrown out for English people working at the bar being offended by not knowing the difference between a pot and a schooner and security throwing my father on the floor for this being said and myself in a headlock and us being thrown out for this taking place... Maybe the staff were drunk and couldn't handle the situation properly?

My disappointment is immeasurable. Dined with friends but didn’t receive food even tho I ordered at the counter. I went there but they told me it’s to late “Kitchen is closed” without an apology or anything. truly impolite.
And worst came worst… I had to watch my friends dine without me… walk home hungry and frustrated to make myself some pasta.

I always have a great time at Woolshed with my friends. Darragh, Joanna and Andrea always ensure I have a great time and I’m super grateful. I will always recommend this place for good night on the town to all visitors.

Used to be a good venue however the major draw back now are the security guards. They really seem to hate their job and jump straight to verbal aggression is any conversion. It really brings down the whole mood and harbours aggression in their patrons. If you hate your job that much then don't do it guys.

I personally work in law enforcement and have never noticed the woolshed security do any of the actions that were previously mentioned. I went on latin night and most of the people in there that night had dark skin, nor were there any of the dark skinned in attendance even confronted about anything. I noticed several intoxicated women that were getting flirted with and the security should have asked them to leave the premises. Not only did they let them stay, they were very professional and did not try to take advantage of them at all. The customer services was also excellent. Me and my hostel come here every tuesday for years now and have never had any of these issues. The music and dance floors are awesome, and everyone seemed to be having a great time! It is standard procedure if a confrontation occurs that both parties are ask to leave the premises!

I had a bad experience here in this club, I asked for less ice in my drink and I was kicked out of the club. Happened with me. I asked for less ice and the bartender was so rude that he said to me, can you not tell me how to do my job and I was like I didn’t tell you that I just want less ice? And he called security and they kicked me out! Security is a not good and nice at the same time there because they don’t even care what you have to say bit i asked to say goodbye to my friends and they let me! The funiest thing is that the security had to ask the bartender who they had to kick out and that because I was not drunk or doing stupid things they did not know! The funniest is that the security asked me ,why are you being kicked out ! I was like asked your bartender

long story short:

Bf and i sat at an empty table.

Were told table was reserved by local hostel, despite no signs saying so.

We replied by saying we were happy to share table with whoever (it was a big table).

Were told by floor staff to vacate table.

Had a real anti-LGBTI vibe about the experience.

TLDR: Go to Gilligans - you'll have more fun and won't cop poor attitude of floor staff, specifically with angry Small Man Syndrome

Hi Denis T, We strongly disagree with your comments as we host LGBTIQ++ nights regularly and our owner's son is gay so obviously our venue is a safe and welcoming place for the LGBTIQ community. In fact, you will not find another club as culturally & sexually diverse as The Woolshed in Cairns! You visited the club on a Tuesday - one of our less busy nights therefore there was plenty of alternate seating available for you and your BF - and we did apologise for not having displayed a "reserved" sign. We had a large pre-booked group that required use of the whole table. I'm sorry you were offended by kindly being asked to move. P.S Keep your eye's out on the Thirsty. FB page or in the FNQ Magazine for our upcoming LGBTIQ events ;)

Hi hannah, As per the email I sent you, we believe this has been quite a misunderstanding. The VIP wristbands are not valid after 11pm, you arrived at 12:15am which meant you had to que for entry. Several of our staff reported you became extremely angry and verbally abusive when you had been advised of this, at which time our security staff denied you entry (we have zero tolerance for verbal abuse). We apologise for any misunderstanding you may have had over the wristbands and wish you safe travels.

We went there with our hostel for free pizza and the ladies night. We got our card for the free drinks. We asked at the bar 9.30 pm for the drinks, they answered that we had to wait another half out and it was at the other bar, this repeted 3 times and then we left. The security guy standing in the door told us that it’s a nightclub and we can’t except everything to be on time. Fair enough it happens one time, but after 3 times it obviously is miss communication among the staff. The security guy also almost didn’t believe us when we said what happened and that the staff were the one who told us this.

Absolutely disgusting and vulgar bouncers who are women abusers. If you are a woman do not go to this place for your safety, if you’re a man go for it I highly doubt they would dare lay hands on another man as they have the ability to defend themselves.

Me and my friend went to the toilet together as girls do and for some strange reason there were 2 male security guards in the toilets as well. They told us to get out which I still don’t know what for, obviously we couldn’t straight away because my friend was weeing. When we got out they said to us you need to leave now, we were tired anyway and this was a bizarre situation with men in the female toilets so we were like ok, one of the bouncers then started shouting abuse at us saying “yeah you do what I say, you do what I tell you to do” I stopped and said there’s absolutely no need to speak to us like that we were already leaving? The guy then continued to shout bizarre things and I said I want to speak to the manager because you cannot talk to people like that. Once the manager arrived who I believe was named Joe, things got even worse. The 2 security guards then twisted everything told the manager we were being rude and the manager said yeah get them out.

One security guard then grabbed my FEMALE friend with his arm across her throat and was lifting her by the throat so she could not breathe! I was shouting to get him off her and the manager Joe was shouting further abuse at me while my friend was being manhandled?? Saying bizarre things to me such as “you’re not in the UK you know, this is Australia we do what we want” as far as I was aware Australia doesn’t allow you to abusive women???? Anyway, a terrible club run by vile people. STAY AWAY!!

Hi saracass1, First and foremost, thank you for your interesting, yet fictional account of the events of this particular evening! For the sake of the readers, here’s what actually happened (which is recorded in the Cairns Police report, Security logbook & CCTV footage (for that evening) - You and your friend were both in a lady’s toilet cubicle (together) for so long that some of our other female guests (who were waiting to use the toilet) complained to our security staff. - One of our security staff + our Duty Manager then knocked on the cubicle door and asked you both politely to finish whatever it was you were both doing in there and get out. - Once you finally came out of the toilet, you then physically assaulted the security guard. We have zero tolerance policy against violence, so it was at this point the security guard proceeded to remove you from the venue and notified the Police should assistance be required. - Your friend then took a swing at the security guard, upon doing this, our Duty Manager advised her to think twice as if a ban was placed on her for violent behaviour, it could “ruin the rest of her trip”” as she would not be permitted entry to any other venue in the state of QLD. - Once outside of the venue, the police continued to restrain you as you were behaving in a physically & verbally abusive manner. The police later asked the security guard if they wish to press charges against you, lucky for you, the security guard chose not to. - Once you finally left, we banned both you and your friend from our venue. PS. Our Manager Joe (also from the UK!) was in fact on a rostered night off, it was our (Irish) Duty Manager & Security Guard (from the Cook Islands) who dealt with your incident. Should you like to discuss this matter further, by all means, please contact us directly. Good luck with your travels. Sincerely, The Woolshed – voted “Best Backpacker Night – Australia” 2018 & 2019
