'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day and night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

We had a great tour of the area surrounding Cairns. We saw both platypus and tree kangaroos in their natural habitat, something most Australians cannot lay claim to! It was an entertaining and educational tour, well worth the time and money.

Thanks Peter, and you are right not many natives get to say that they have seen those animals (unless they have been on a tour with us!) More

I was recommended to take this rainforest tour by someone who participated a couple of years ago. And after spent such a wonderful time, I`m so happy that I took it and can also recommend it to others. All through the afternoon, it was fun and exciting to look for different animals and their movements both up in the trees... More

With only a few days in Cairns, we had to choose our activities wisely, and I'm so glad we decided to go on Paul's tour. He was informative, educational, and patiently waited to show us all kinds of endemic wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot a tree kangaroo and a platypus!!! The tour was small and personalized. Would definitely... More

This tour was wonderful!!! It was very intimate and our guide was very fun and seemed to know a little something about everything surrounding us. He was very determined to spot and platypus. Right when we were going to eat dinner then try again afterwards, we saw one!!!!! The night tour was just as amazing as the day portion with... More

With only 2 in our group we were lucky to have a very personalised tour and saw almost all the promised highlights including great views of 2 platypus and very close encounter with a tree kangaroo both up a tree and hopping on the ground. Great trip.

It's not often you get to see a tree kangaroo on the ground! Its always nice for me to show a "local" our beautiful backyard as well so hope you get to do a bit more exploring yourself now you know where to go. More

Paul was helpful and knowledgeable. Night walk was good especially the Curtain Fig at night. Would have missed the Atherton tablelands except for this, worth seeing. As well we saw a platypus. Only weakness was the vegetarian meal (spaghetti plus a weak tomato sauce).

Thanks for the feedback, the Atherton tablelands are beautiful and it is a pity that a lot of people do miss out on them! Also sorry the meal was not up to scratch for you. Its the first time anyone has mentioned the vegetarian meal so I will have a word with them at the restaurant. More

A small group wildlife and rain forest tour. Paul was friendly and informative and the opportunity to see animals at night in their habitats, both city dwellers and those who lived in the rain forest, was great. I also enjoyed hearing about the spectacular plant life and sharing a pleasant dinner with the other really nice people on the tour.

Tour guide, Paul was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond so we could see animals in the wild. We had a big group of 12 and were comfortable in air conditioned van between stops. Dinner at Nick's was good and a nice break before nighttime walk. With lots of effort on Paul's part we did see the elusive Platypus,... More

Can't recommend this tour highly enough! Our guide Paul was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and we were lucky enough to see wallabies, tree kangaroos, a platypus and possums of various shapes and colours. Also thoroughly enjoyed dinner at a lovely Swiss-Italian restaurant in the Atherton Tablelands!

This was one of my favorite tours I've done. Our guide was Tapio and was a wealth of information. He was the most informative guide ever. We were lucky to have only five of us on the tour. Two were vet techs and one raised tarantulas! Great tour.
