'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day/night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

We went on a rainforest wildlife spotlighting tour in October 2015. It was fantastic and the highlight of our holiday. So many good memories and Paul was a great host and full of information. We saw more animals than most Australians see in 10 years.

We had the great privilege of being guided on this tour by Tapio, our fearless German leader. There were only three of us on this tour and we had an awesome time! Tapio spotted so many things that were impossible for us to see ourselves, like the two Boyd's forest dragons and some magnificently camouflaged creatures. He helped us spot... More

Thanks for the review. Tapio is a very passionate guide that's for sure. So sorry the meal was not up to its usual standard. I have spoken to them as Tapio let me know when he got back that night. More

Paul, the owner, took us out and it was truly amazing. Very interactive, exciting, informative and fun! Most importantly we got to see so many animals that we would never ever have been able to find on our own. Platypus, wallabies, tree kangaroos, kangaroo rats and several types of possums to name just a few! We also got to have... More

Starting after noon, the guide takes you around for a leisurely trip around the city showing some of its wildlife including fruit bats, sour-tasting ants, wallabies and curlews. After this, a short ride up some winding roads (motion sickness might be a problem to face) following which a day tour into a rainforest, lake and a platypus viewing point. Post... More

Waitawhile was the best tour I went on during my visit to Cairns. Paul was very knowledgeable and fun to learn from, taking us from local places to rain forests. The rain forests were not as crowded and allowed us to really soak in the beauty of the rainforest. The tour group was small and intimate, which allowed us to... More

My partner and I took this tour as part of a multi-city trip in Australia, and it was absolutely one of the top two highlights of our time there (the other being a sailing trip in the Barrier Reef). We were lucky enough to be the only ones who signed up for the tour that day, so we had a... More

We had a great afternoon and evening with Paul on this trip. Pick up was on time and as there were only 6 on the trip there was plenty of room for the travelling. First stop was for Fruit Bats then on to see Agile Wallaby's. The trip really starts when you get up on the tablelands and look for... More

Thanks Simon. Pity after I saw your photo that I realised it was a Rufus owl not a sooty to increase your Australian sightings! More

An enjoyable trip where we saw a variety of animals including fruit bats, tree kangaroos, possums and a very cute platypus! Paul was very knowledgeable on both wildlife and plant life, as well as being an extremely good driver - the drive up the mountain on Gillies Highway is an experience to be believed. Dinner was really good and although... More

My son (age 6) and I had an awesome time with Paul on this tour. We live in Cairns and I can assure you I've never been that close to a platypus before in the wild. It was so special! We also saw tree kangaroo and at night, possums, flying foxes and amazingly a snake crossing the road which Paul... More
