'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day and night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

Booked this tour because I was desperate to see a platypus. I wasn't let down either. Had a good few minutes following one down a small river and got pretty close. A Truly magical moment. The weather made it harder to spot some animals (heavy rain) but Paul and his young helper were brilliant and spotting wildlife. It was like... More

The tour and our guide were great! Our guide was an expert in all the flora and fauna in the area. He was amazing at finding wildlife high up in the trees with the spotlight. We found wallabies, several kangaroo species, possums, a sooty owl, flying fox and even a platypus! We saw two species of snake and even rescued... More

We had a wonderful night filled with animals, good food, great company and all despite the rain. We got to see the elusive platypus, 3 types of possums, birds native to the area, turtles, frogs and more! Dinner was a delicious pub meal and ponchos and umbrellas were supplied. We took hundreds of photos and recommend a big lense if... More

Thanks for the recommendation. It's great to hear you got so many photos as well. We got a bit wet but it doesn't stop the animals. More

It was a really fascinating experience! And night part of the tour was totally awesome! We saw hundreds of wallabies, 3 platypus, 2 bandicoots, 5 tree kangaroos, 2 tree dragons, 3 huge Huntsman spiders, several different types of possums (common brushtail, copper brush tail, free brush tail..) I even found a echidna! All in all we found about 17-18 different... More

When my wife and I came to Australia to dive the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea, this was one of our few land activities in Queensland, and I must say that it was an incredibly good choice! We really loved the tour, which was small and personal. We really got to know the rainforest and some of the cool... More

Thanks guys. A lot of people miss out on our rainforest as they do not know it exists! At least you got to see it and the amazing wildlife we have round here. I am glad you enjoyed it so much. More

Paul is an excellent guide and a nice guy, yesterday we had the pleasure of being guided around the wildlife of the rainforest by Paul. He certainly knows where to find his targets and ensures everybody gets good views and plenty of info. Our trip yesterday was full with 10 guests but Paul was able to engage with all, including... If you're really interested in the flora and fauna of an Australian rainforest this is a must do. The tour goes south of Cairns and on the way out of town we stopped in a neighborhood where wallabies were hanging out - had an opportunity to exit the van to take photos. Our guide provided information and could go into... More

We were a little hesitant to book this tour as some of the reviews for it were not particularly good. However, we decided to go for it as the majority of reviews were good and it sounded just what we wanted. I'm glad we did as this tour is brilliant. The itinerary we followed was exactly as described on the... More

Thanks guys. I think you have nailed what we try and do! The old saying goes "you can't please all the people all the time" but we do try to. The area we visit is very easy to drive to from Cairns, much closer than the Daintree Forest in the north, but that gives us more time looking for wildlife.... More

In addition to seeing the incredible flora of the Australian World Heritage Rainforests, we also wanted a chance to see the many rare and native animals to the region. As a family of 7, our options are often limited as to paid tours. However, it soon became obvious, after online research and chats with the locals, that going with a... More
