We used the City Hopper on numerous occasions during our visit to Brisbane.
The service was always on time.
Ensure that, if using this service, you know at which piers this ferry stops, as there are some differences between the Hopper and The City Cat schedule.
This is a great way to see aspects of Brisbane, all free of charge!!!
The City Ferry service provides a similar route, but you pay for the trip.
A great service - well done Brisbane.

What a great free ferry service for locals and tourists.
We joined the city hopper ferry at the North Quay terminal going all the way to the Sydney Street terminal and back to North Quay again. The total time was appropriately 1.75hrs but what a great way to see some of Brisbane’s waterfronts.
The seating out the back and upper level were wooden slatted benches, inside downstairs are more comfortable soft cloth seats (We sat up top).
There is a toilet onboard.
Really enjoyed the experience.

The City Hopper links terminals on both sides of the river. We embarked at South Bank and did the full circuit at a leisurely pace on the new Kittycats. It took us to some of the terminals served by the City Cat but also to Kangaroo Point and Maritime Museum. We decided to get off at New Farm and enjoy a stroll through the riverside park and some of the back streets before resuming our cruise. We boarded three different ferries during the cruise and each skipper was friendly and helpful with advice. Great supplementary service to the more highly patronised City Cat service. Just relax and enjoy the views.

We took the ferry for the entire circuit with family with children and had a great time. Be sure to tell the staff at the dock that you want the "free" ferry (hop on hop off) or they'll send you to the train station to buy tickets. The river views are amazing and you can get off or on wherever you please. Free of charge and very recommend while in the fine city of Brisbane

We used this excellent free ferry service to travel from Riverside (Eagle St Pier) New Farm, Holman Street and Southbank and North Quay. Holman Street is a great spot to stop off at as you can go to the Story Bridge Hotel and visit Sea Kegs Craft Brewery. We used this service during the day and evenings. Evenings are particularly enjoyable and the lights of Brisbane by night and the Story Bridge lit up are beautiful.

Serves sea transport in the center of Brisbane. There are regular services every half hour and at peak times are frequent. The small red City Hopper boats are boating slowly but they 're reliable. Those in a hurry can catch a taxi or move by the City Cat catamarans. There are signs with timetables at each stop to take care of the time. Excellent and free choice for Brisbane tourists. We used City Hooper from our hotel (dockside marina) to the city center.

The Brisbane Council offer a free city hopper ferry service and we spent hours on it going up and down where we needed to get to.
You get a unique view of the city and also... it is FREE!
Travelers note, be sure to avoid the peak hour times.

We used the service a number of times to get around the city and southbank plus one night we did the full circuit just to see the river and city at night. Most occasions we were able to get on the top deck which gives the best views as well as being cooler out in the breeze. The seats are wooden and so sitting on them for the whole hour gets a bit uncomfortable. The views of the city and rivers are great and a must for all tourists

Great way to get around the city. This free hop on hop off service is great for visitors to the city. We were near the Eagle Street Pier stop so used it to easily travel down to the Southbank area where there are heaps of restaurants and activities.
A great idea just to jump on at night to see the city river lights - an activity in itself to get the whole loop.

Great service and free to cruise up and down the Brisbane river. We scored a stern seat to check out the city skyline on A balmy summer day 28oC starting and finishing at the riverside pier. Then went for a picnic in the nearby botanic gardens. Great evening and helpful cree

Assuming you mean Lone Pine, then mo, afraid not. You can however book tours which will take you from various ferry points.

Hi, If I were to go to Brisbane from the Brisbane airport (so that I can try the City Hopper), is it faster and cheaper by train or Uber?

The Hopper is a ferry so you can’t get from the airport to the city on a boat. You can take the train and it’s quite quick. I personally take a DiDi or Uber or taxi because I’m isually tired from travel and want to get to the hotel quickly. It costs $25-$30 roughly depending on the time of day. Train won’t cost that much - much cheaper. The red city hopper is free - can take you up and down the river from one end of the city to the other.

Which hotels to consider, so that we could just walk to the nearest pier to board City Hopper?

Agree with above; Kangaroo Point was a lovely spot & will mean you get to travel 3/4 stops on the City Hopper to take in all of the scenery if heading down towards South Bank (which most people do!).

ALICE SPRING : This post is for Alice Spring, AU. Has anyone hired a private driver to show them around the historic and cultural in this area? Also, trying to find out about the Hop ON/OFF in Alice Spring. Did not receive a reply from the visitors center in the town. Thank you. We have one day in Alice and sadly there are no local tours scheduled for that day.

Hi Dorothy, you'd need to post your question onto the AS City Hopper (or equivalent) - this is for Brisbane.

Eagle Street Pier would be quicker than North Quay. Nice restaurants at Eagle Street to wander through.

how to get from port to City hall in Brisbane

Portside is the Cruise Wharf/Terminal & if you grabbed a cab it would be perhaps 20 minutes. I am sure there has to be Shuttle buses into the centre of Brisbane ( Con-X-ion ) do this type of service to/from Airport & I note also Portside.
The Purser/Activities personnel on the Cruise will definitely know best options. Enjoy your time in Brisbane.

How far is it from Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise Hotel
Jenny1960_11
Brisbane, Australia89 contributions
Depends on how you get from Surfer's Paradise to Brisbane. I would allow a full day to allow getting the light rail from Florida Gardens stop to Helensvale. You need to swap to the train heading to Brisbane. Get off at either South Bank or South Brisbane stations and walk through South Bank Parklands to get to the river and the CityHopper (about 2 hours using public transport called Translink). It takes about 1 hour round trip on the little boat, then you will need to reverse trip :)

Hi, how Long does a journey through the entire loop last?
Peter F
139 contributions
Hi there, Hope its not too late for a reply. A full round trip will take about 90 mins. Keep in mind it is a straight line from one end, stopping all stops to the other end. It then returns stopping at all the same stops on the way back. If you get on in the middle, you will be starting half way to one end and a round trip will only take 45 mins. Google City Hopper for timetable and times. Hope this helps. P
