If you have a half/ 3/4 hour to spare, have a walk across this bridge and the come back across the goodwill bridge. You will see the very best of Brisbane an d south bank.
A word of warning watch out for the bike riders, as they cant read the 10 kph signs and think they own the footpath.
Otherwise worth a wander.

A pedestrian bridge for sure , and in my opinion the ugliest in Brisbane. It looks like some sort of spider web. It cost a bomb and is an eyesore.
Money could have been better spent than this horrible monstrosity.

The Kurilpa Bridge provides a convenient pedestrian-and-cyclists-only crossing of the Brisbane River, linking the northern end of Brisbane's CBD to the top end of South Bank. It's a bridge that has won international design awards and is indeed a spectacular sight - all struts, masts and cables poking out at all sorts of angles above the walkway. As you'd expect, it affords great views along the river and back to the city and South Bank. Cross the river here, perambulate through the many marvels of South Bank and cross back to the city via the pedestrian/bicycles only Goodwill Bridge and the Botanic Gardens. Way to go.

Love the architecture of this bridge which has light displays at night.
Great way to get from the CBD to Southbank. Relaxing and has spots to sit on the bridge and watch the river.

This bridge is for foot and cycle traffic only and provides a great link between the City and the cultural precinct at Southbank, in particular the State Library and the Gallery of Modern Art. The design reminds me of a dead cockroach lying on it's back with it's legs in the air.

Often described as the knitting needle bridge, the Kurilpa bridge is one of the many bridges linking North and South sections of the Brisbane CBD. This pedestrian only bridge is constantly used by a stream of pedestrian and cyclists. It is well worth a visit even if just to marvel at its uniqueness.

This pedestrian bridge with the superstructure sticking out looks unfinished. It's not all that conveniently located, but if you want to walk from the cultural centre to the city area it's the quickest way to cross the river.

A great way between the gallery and the city , check out the water views on the way . After your trip from the transit centre past the great pubs, law courts and art installations to the special water views across the Kurilpa bridge to the library and ferries to anywhere. Walk back to the city via many of the cross river bridges. A great day out or if in a hurry enjoy the views on the bridge for 5 minutes and reset to a relaxed state of mind.

I don't find the bridge particularly attractive during the day, although it is unique and does stand out. From an engineering perspective the bridge is quite unique. I won't bore you with these details, only to say that apparently each pillar is held up by the tension in the cables running between them. That is apparently a world first design feature for a pedestrian bridge. The thing I do like about the bridge is the LED lighting (solar powered). It is quite attractive with the rainbow lighting at night and this does add something to the city. The bridge is pedestrian/bicycle only and connects the northern end of the city to Southbank (via Tank Street from the CBD). They ran a public competition in the city to name the bridge when it was built. Depending on what source you read, Kurilpa is either the name that was also used by the original Aboriginal inhabitants for the West End area of the city or means 'place for water rats' (or possibly both).
I want to say thank you to the council for keeping the abomination that is the 'love locks' off this bridge. I saw how many there were on the beautiful bridges in Paris and Rome before their local councils also started removing them. They blight the architecturally beautiful and historic bridges there. They looked like jarring graffiti against the ancient bridges, so I'm pleased they are also being cleared off here.
