historical and significant Catholic church in the middle of Brisbane

Even if the church is in the middle of the city, masses are so solemn. Visit the Chapel of Mary McKillop.

Hadn't been to this church in a very long time. Enjoyed mass here as a child when I stayed with my favorite aunt. It's impressive.

In the heart of the city, St. Stephen's is the perfect place to sit a spell and get ready for more Brisbane. The architecture is nice but not as impressive as St. Andrew's Church. Enjoy the peace and quiet before hitting the hustle and bustle.

Lovely building, plan to see it on a Thursday as is Market day and the church is open and there are other things to do as it wont take long to have a look, but there are lots of other historic buildings in the area and on Thursdays they have a walk tour around city centre with basic commentary and... This is no doubt a lovely Cathedral and as a pl;ace of God, is worthy of a visit to spend time, especially here as they do have the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament behind the altar. Unfortunately the dire hand of Modernism and Liberalism has not left the Cathedral free from the horrors of this new age. The main example... More

Picture Jesus suffering pain but also showing his strength in overcoming the cross. This crucifix depicts both in a memorable way. It is one of the most moving pieces that we have seen. The stained glass windows add color to plain white walls. The Baptismal Font is marble and depicts birth from the womb and into new life as a... More

Visited chapel when attending services at cathedral. Small chapel with interesting statues. A haven from the rush and bustle of the city. Well worth a visit and meditation if in the city.

Lovely church, very welcoming. Oldest in Queensland. Interesting screen, organ, west window depicting St Stephens life and Bishops chair.

Popped in to have a look at the lovely stained glass - hadn't been there for 40 years or more. The church has a modern altar and is very open and airy and easy to stroll about looking at the magnificent stained glass windows. Went back the next morning for Mass which only took 25 minutes and was surprised at... More
