The Brisbane River is perfect for adventure, leisure and recreation. Go kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or take a trip on a City Cat. Celebrate the Brisbane River at a Riverfire function or just have a picnic in the riverside parkland. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great vantage point to see the Brisbane River, or go rock climbing or abseiling with Riverlife Adventure Centre. Try Story Bridge Adventure climb, cycle, rollerblade or go for a jog. Dance with the local aboriginal tribe, Mirrabooka or visit South Bank. However you look at it you can't visit Brisbane without experiencing the River. Then cruise out to Tangalooma Island Resort for a must do experience. Enjoy!

The river of life

The river is a great way to see Brisbane at its best. Get on a river boat and get on and off as you need to for sight seeing. Shopping or just eating.

The most scenic stretch of the Brisbane River is arguably between the Gateway Arterial Bridge (Murrarie) and The University of Queensland (St Lucia). For more nature, head further upriver. Unless there has been prolonged rainfall recently, the river is typically calm and tranquil. The best way to see the Brisbane River – and the city from a different perspective -... More

I had the chance to sail this river with a cruise up river and the neighborhoods and suburbs are really nice with fancy houses and big mansions in some cases. I didn't have the chance to go down river, but it should be really wonderful to feel the experience leaving the river and starting to sail the ocean. Best way... More

The whole area is lovely from the bicycle paths either side to the jettys where you can cruise along to another part of Brisbane. Some great views on the opposite sides of the banks and great areas such as Eagle St, several garden areas etc.

I first time visit to Brisbane should include a ferry ride on the river to fully appreciate the relaxed and picturesque lifestyle Brisbane people enjoy. From the southern terminal to the northern end, you can stop off at a number of parks, entertainment precincts and dining opportunities. Weekends and school holidays are always busy.

The Brisbane river is nice in areas further up like in areas such as fig tree pocket, if your enjoying Southbank or the city gardens it's a nice view, I definitely wouldn't recommend swimming in it it its not bad to look if you find nice surroundings.

There are many ways to explore our river and it runs for many kilometres. You can catch a ferry, hire a canoe, use your own boat or go on a fancy cruise. In the lower part of the river is Fishermans island. This is where the larger ship pull in to load and unload. There is also a small boat... More

We did a cruise along the river, there were some great sights along the way, beautiful homes and history. Southbank is a great spot to stroll or have a family day.

The river is a great place to share experiences, first we traveled on the City Cat, then used the new City Cycle along the paths and then went Stand up paddle boarding with the Riverlife Adventure Centre all in the same day. Excellent
