About
The Brisbane River is perfect for adventure, leisure and recreation. Go kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or take a trip on a City Cat. Celebrate the Brisbane River at a Riverfire function or just have a picnic in the riverside parkland. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great vantage point to see the Brisbane River, or go rock climbing or abseiling with Riverlife Adventure Centre. Try Story Bridge Adventure climb, cycle, rollerblade or go for a jog. Dance with the local aboriginal tribe, Mirrabooka or visit South Bank. However you look at it you can't visit Brisbane without experiencing the River. Then cruise out to Tangalooma Island Resort for a must do experience. Enjoy!

Alternative running route!
Jan 2021
Not only is this a pleasant place to walk at night, but also is an excellent running route. I often made changes to my running path and ran from the botanical gardens all the way to the Brisbane River. For all the people who are tired of seeing the same things on their runs, I'd largely recommend going for a run along The Brisbane River!

The natural trail is missing. It has been concreted over. All artificial. Very bad smell. Totally avoid.

Get rid of pollutants
Mar 2021
This brown water does carry lots of pollution. The smell is awful. The upstream pollution generating plants must be closed.

Excellent Vista
Apr 2021
This is our first visit to Brisbane and we found it excellent. The river on the south bank has been well executed and its a breathing space for people. Walking/ cycling paths along the river on the north are excellent and well patronised. Walking through the botanical gardens and. beyond is well worth the stroll, particularly at night. A river ride is a must both during the day and night for the vista.
The motorway through town is an eyesore that will be regretted as the years flow.....why do governments build these hideous roads. Overall an excellent experience.

Great cycling and walking facilities along the river. It took me 45 mins to walk the 3km from Auchenflower to Southbank. Well used and safe. Lotsa young joggers and cyclists Water available along the way and city cat stops. Well signposted for exits to Roma St parklands, Wesley Hospital etc. Great initiative.

On the River
Jan 2021 • Couples
Brisbane is not an especially interesting or attractive city, and one is forced to seek out attractions that are probably not all that interesting.

In the vain, the Brisbane River is not very long or scenic, however it does give the city a nice focal point and provides some nice places for strolls. There is also a free ferry service running a few kilometres along it, which makes for a nice diversion.

A wonderful outing
Dec 2020
My daughter suggested a day on the river on one of the huge River Cats.
We had a wonderful, relaxing tour from one end of the Brisbane stretch of the river to the very end.
The day was perfect, the weather was beautiful, and the scenery lovely.
I would heartily recommend this trip for people of all ages. The children loved it too.
We stopped at Southbank on the way back, and had a coffee and a look around, then completed our journey.
