The Brisbane River is perfect for adventure, leisure and recreation. Go kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or take a trip on a City Cat. Celebrate the Brisbane River at a Riverfire function or just have a picnic in the riverside parkland. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great vantage point to see the Brisbane River, or go rock climbing or abseiling with Riverlife Adventure Centre. Try Story Bridge Adventure climb, cycle, rollerblade or go for a jog. Dance with the local aboriginal tribe, Mirrabooka or visit South Bank. However you look at it you can't visit Brisbane without experiencing the River. Then cruise out to Tangalooma Island Resort for a must do experience. Enjoy!

I ran along the Brisbane river about twice every week! It's truly one of my favourite places in Brisbane. It's my place to de-stress about a day at work before I go home. Loving the different views along the river, from cityscape to Queenslanders at New Farm, different bridges. The bicentennial bikeway provides a good way to see the city!... More

On the last full moon, myself & a group of kayakers paddled the Brisbane river. What a wonderful experience. We launched our yaks at West End boat ramp and paddled along the River past South Bank, The Cliffs at Kangaroo Point, the bright Lights of the City high rises, the cars along Coronation Drive. We paddled under all Ferry Terminals... More

When having visitors from interstate, I decided to use the City Cat and traverse the whole route from end to end of the River to ensure that they get a real orientation of the city and the wonderful opportunities it offers and the developing skyline as far as North Shore and South to University of Queensland. What a great array... More

Brisbane has done an excellent job making their riverfront one where a family can spend many days. Whether hitting world class streets beach or one of there free museums or galleries, there is always something to do.

We drove down to Southbank on a Sunday, got on the ferry which took us from Southbank to Hamilton and then on return we stayed on and went to the other side. It was enjoyable and of course the scenery but we thought doing both sides at once was a little bit long. If we were to take visitors, we... More

This city really did it right. So many cities are using their riverfronts to develop more shopping and eating establishments, as if we didn't have enough of those already. Brisbane used theirs for a riverside beach. An herb and vegetable garden to teach children about how to grow things in the soil. Museums. A beautiful walking trail.

With the wind in your hair from the deck of a CityCat in the Brisbane River is a great way for first time visitors to Brisbane to familiarize themselves with the layout and features of our city. Buy a pass for a complete loop and you are on your way. Take a city map as a helpful addition to enhance... More

The Brisbane River can be accessed at most places around the CBD / Southbank areas. There are easy access walkways with no steep declines etc. The CBD can be seen from many angles, either from the CBD side itself, Southbank, and Kangaroo Point side. The new river walk path from the north end of the Story Bridge to Newfarm is... More

We filled in a couple of days just walking around this beautiful river. We stopped and ate at some wonderful restaurants and cafes that surround the river. Lovely way to spend a day. We love to walk as you see more.
