About
The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery.

A world-class experience
Jun 2021
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the European Masterpieces exhibition at GOMA.
On loan from New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, the exhibit spans 500 years of European art and is at GOMA until October 2021. It's a must see.
Seeing original artworks from Degas, Monet, Rembrandt, Cezanne etc was just breath-taking. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Limited works

Very limited range of works.
Also... when did porn become art? Not impressed with full frontal nudity as first exhibit. Children were also not restricted

Hi Stacey. Thanks for dropping by while in Brisbane. The exhibition you refer to is ‘William Yang: Seeing and Being Seen’ which addresses a range of issues and themes from the 1970s to the present, with a focus on LGBTIQ+ photography and of the male nude. There are signs at the entries to the exhibition advising of adult themes including nudity. We hope this clarifies the works you viewed. Regards QAGOMA

Motorcycle: the timeline of design and dreaming.
Apr 2021
Well GOMA, you have done it again. We spent the whole day visiting ‘The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire’ exhibition. It is an astounding exhibition, the history, the colour, the shapes, the shine, the design. Just wow. It is a beautifully curated exhibition with themed gallery rooms. On entering you meet a steam powered bike and finish with a gleaming display plinth of dream machines. Take a coffee break mid exhibition to refuel for the second half. There is also a green screen experience at the end which is always fun. I highly recommend GOMA and this particular exhibition. Get in quick before it finishes.

Wonderful, Unique Display
Jan 2021
My husband is a avid motorcycle rider and restorer of wonderful old bikes. When he read that the Design, Art, Dream exhibition was coming to Brisbane we had to go and see it.
We were not disappointed. What a wonderful display of iconic motorcycles which helped develop the mechanics, engineering, design and performance of bikes today. Just loved the first display of a steam powered motorbike from the mid 1800s.
So many times I heard my husband say, "I had one of those" or "I wish I still had that bike".
It was also interesting to see the great display of off road bikes and how they have developed as well as the art works in the choppers.

Promoting hate speech in the name of ‘art’
Feb 2021 • Couples
The motorcycle display contains a very hateful and ugly piece by an artist that depicts a police helmet with a donut on the back and a burning cop car on the front with ‘FTP’ written in the flames. Nothing overly artistic about the piece, and sucks to know the gallery is tax payer funded and finds it okay to promote hatred.

I've seen other modern art galleries, and to me they are swing and miss. This was a miss, but might tickle someone else's fancy

Motorcycle exhibition very good
Dec 2020 • Couples
I’m into motorcycles but knew little about the early bikes and some interesting designs - even built pre WWII.

Some of the suspension designs were decades ahead of where we are now.

Beautifully restored bikes well worth a look.
