The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank.

QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum.

QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery.

Wonderful spacious gallery. Plenty of areas to sit and take in the displays. Good descriptions next to pieces and at 'tablet' stations. Loved all the water features inside and out. Cafe it you want some refreshments. Souvenir shop, but lije all souvenir shops, on the expensive side. Particularly enjoyed the Aboriginal display and the sculptures. If you like Art, even... More

Part of the newish Southbank Complex, the GOMA tends to rely on the exhibition-of-the-moment ( much like the Sydney MCA ). So check what's showing an see if it appeals. The riverfront Cafe is excellent and worth a visit for lunch, if you're in the vicinity.

GOMA always has great free exhibitions to visit so on a hot day it is always nice to escape into the gallery and see what's new, an old favourite for my sister and I to visit and spend some time together, great to pair up with a visit to south bank parklands.

GOMA is located in an architectural wonder on the banks of South Brisbane with scenic views looking over the Brisbane River toward the CBD. The art gallery itself is a bit of a rabbit's warren with interactive displays and exhibits tucked away down corridors and stairwells but this adds to the charm of the place. The artistic installations change regularly... More

Love GOMA in Brisbane. Yesterday we went to the cinema to see 'Double indemnity' a film noir. It was brilliant. Then we went on a free guided tour of the highlights of the gallery. It's a wonderful way to spend a morning. The adjoining cafe does a lovely breakfast too

I had contacted GOMA about my upcoming trip from the U S. I attended on the last day of the Spun Sugar exhibition. I love visiting this amazing gallery, filled with creativity and innovation. It feeds my soul in so many ways. What a treasure Brisbane has in this gallery complex! Hats off to the Board and Directors who selected... More

Spacious and plenty to see. Food is pricey so avoid eating there if you can. Though it is all very organic and up market, and everything is recyclable which was lovely to see. I didn't enjoy most of the art pieces as I prefer less blood lust and depressing topics, but they were of high quality and addressed current topics... More

The Lonely Planet describes it as ‘brilliant’ and so it is. We could not wait to go back and visit again when we returned to Brisbane for a second time. In total, we visited 5 times on two visits. It helped that we were staying only 10 minutes away over the pedestrian bridge over the river. In particular, we loved... More
