Did the self-guided tour for $5 which included an informative video about opals in Australia. Lots of beautiful stones to see and some available to buy. Made me appreciate opals and their history more

We absolutely loved the museum (adults with a 9y.o & 11y.o). It’s not big but it’s big enough. There’s a lot of beautiful opals to see and the guided tour is interesting. I learnt a lot. The gift shop has some beautiful pieces of jewellery and art pieces to take home.

Super friendly and outgoing staff provided a quick but through tour on how Opals are formed and mined in Australia. They let you hold the owner’s personal collection in your hands. They have a great store attached, but do not pressure you to buy at all. They were very helpful in finding the perfect gift in my price range, and didn’t try and push me to buy something more expensive.

AMAZING OPALS, EXPERT TUTORIALS
Nov 2019
I decided to have a look in here, as I were curious to see what was behind the glass and the doors. I was pleasantly greeted, and introduced to the owner. I found the lady very professional and informative, she showed great passion towards her opals. I learned a lot during my visit. Will return to admire the beautiful opals.

A large location and a nice small collection of opals. Staff were so welcoming and lovely. Understandly the jewellery is pricey but not to worry theres something for everyone as they have cheap offcuts you can buy and still enjoy a bit of opal magic!

Great little presentation on opals. What makes them valuable? How are they found and mined? Worth the time.

Well worth a visit while in Brisbane

Saw this museum in various tour books/websites, knew there’s a long, rich history of opal mining in Australia & wanted to visit. Such interesting information supplied by Ellen who was so sweet & helpful! Thank you! I learned much more about opals, creation, mining, types, & valuing them. I had No idea! Give yourself about an hour to wander the displays.
