About
Professional Dive Services was established by PADI Course Director John Gransbury in July 2010. John recognised a need for a mobile dive company that allows divers to access dive sites all over the Eastern seaboard of Australia and not just sites in the local Brisbane area. The ethos of Professional Dive Services is providing personalised unparalleled diver training, the flexibility to cater to each individual diver’s needs and above all to have FUN!! Professional Dive Services can help you with all of your training from Open Water to Instructor. We also specialise in organising custom trips for families, groups and celebrations. By not having our own boat we are free to roam, take advantage of the huge array of dive sites available on the East coast, the most experienced operators, most comfortable boats, all whilst ensuring that you have an experience that will last you a lifetime.Come diving with us and and let John put the FUN back into your diving!

Our trip to the Yongala was fantastic. That is thanks to John who had the whole trip organized and who adapted to our unplanned flight delays. John also knew exactly how to get everyone at ease and knows how to manage a group of divers, taking account of each diver's experience, while keeping the whole trip really relaxed. Will definitely book another trip with John again!

Had a fantastic time with John and Professional Dive Services.

Being driven to and from the dive site is a fantastic service as we all know how tiring you get after a big day of diving!

I have been on a number of trips with John and the group of people in the are fantastic, confident divers (as most have been taught by John) and above all... great people so you will also come away with great dive buddies!

As a dive instructor, I would highly recommend that you join John at Professional Dive Services if you are looking for a fun, safe, dive trip or if you are looking to learn how to dive or develop your skills.... John is your man!!

Being able to not worry about driving after a couple of shore dives is fantastic. The fact John offers to pick you up and take to the dive site is excellent.

John’s ability to impart dive knowledge is first rate and would recommend anyone looking at doing a dive course/a to do them with John.

Went for a shore dive with John. He provided pick up and drop off to/from my home. John was very knowledgeable about the site and its marine inhabitants. Had heaps of fun and felt very safe with such an experienced diver. It's a great little muck diving site too, heaps of cool critters. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend diving with Professional Dive Services. They offer transport to and from the dive site, as well as gear hire. It was a pleasure meeting everyone on board. John was very patient, helpful and experienced at what he does. As the occasional diver, I appreciated the effort given by everyone to ensure that I had an equally good time. Had an amazing dive on my birthday, shipwreck diving in Mooloolaba!

I first meet John when my Husband and I were lucky enough to be on Big Cat Reality with him and some of the Professional Dive Services crew. I completed my Advanced Open Water and both my Husband and I did our Deep Specialty at the same time, the trip was wonderful and the instruction very clear and easy to follow. John has an amazing ability to nurture your skills and build your confidence whilst teaching you to enjoy every aspect of life beneath the seas within the marine environment, pointing out a fantastic array of sea creatures along the way. John gave me back my passion for the Ocean, I will forever be grateful for that gift. Since that first trip on Big Cat Reality we have had the absolute pleasure of Diving with John many times at many sites, it has always been an fantastic experience, it really should be illegal to have this much fun. We have been back on Big Cat Reality many times as a result and it has always been a sensational experience. John always makes you feel welcome, will go out of his way to assist you should you have any questions or require help with anything Dive related also he will have you in fits of laughter on the surface intervals you really couldn't ask for more from an Instructor. It is always a sensational day, weekend or week Diving with the Professional Dive Services team. I really could not recommend John, Lisa and Professional Dive Services enough for anyone wanting to learn to Dive or certified Divers looking for an amazing experience.

All in the review title really!

Moved up to Brisbane from Sydney back in September bereft of dive buddies I'd had to leave behind in NSW and new to the QLD diving scene. Fortunately for me, I was lucky enough to come across John's diving website; after a few chats over what was on offer, booking onto a couple of day trips and having absolute blast with an awesome diving instructor and new-found dive buddies, I was pretty soon caught up in all the awesome East Coast (and international) diving opportunities on offer.

How could anyone resist signing up for so many awesome trips?!

North Stradbroke island, Julian Rocks (Byron Bay), Big Cat Reality (liveaboard around Moreton Island), Wolf Rock, South West Rocks and the Solitary islands are just some of the local trips John has on offer -this of course not even mentioning those further afield such as the Rodney Fox trip with the Great White Sharks I'm booked on in June...book on some...you won't regret it!

Obviously being an instructor and all the rest of it - John also revels in teaching everything and everything from Openwater through Advanced, Rescue, Specialities up to and including professional dive training.

Although I've not yet been instructed by John myself (which will change soon as we'll be doing my Wreck course next weekend) I've no doubt that his professionalism, enthusiasm and general attitude will make this course AWESOME...and as such I highly recommend any of you new divers out there, or those of you looking for continuing development use PDS/John for your next phase of dive training.

I really wanted to dive during my short time in Australia, but it's quite expensive if you don't have your own equipment (which I didn't at the time). I compensated and did a clean-up dive with Professional Dive Services - you dive near the shore for a lower price as long as you help pick up rubbish.

It was actually a pretty good way to do it - I saw a couple of animals (mantis shrimp, tusk fish, moray eel and even a huge stone fish!) while helping clean up discarded fishing hooks, lines and weights. Apparently they also found a plasma screen TV here too!

I'd recommend every diver do something like this at least once - help protect the ocean you use so often. Incidentally, this is also the longest dive I've ever done - 97 minutes on a single tank of regular air.

Thank you for joining us mate and for your review! We run these clean up dives purely to help the environment and make no money from them whatsoever with every cent donated to Project AWARE. Given how much trash ends up in our ocean on a daily basis it is a never ending battle but we sincerely appreciate you joining us to help clean up our favourite local dive site and help keep our ocean beautiful. We hope you can join us for another dive adventure next time you visit our shores. We certainly have some incredible wildlife!

We were in Brisbane for a day and contacted John to set up a dive trip at the last minute. John was very personable, flexible and had great customer service. He was creative in pulling together a dive trip for us at the last minute that turned out to be simply incredible- diving with 20 manta rays that were the most beautiful and gentle creatures. He had great communication through the planning process and follow-up afterwards in terms of sending us awesome photos from our trip. John and the entire dive team were efficient and the dive location selected for us that day was terrific. I would come back again and dive with John anytime He provides specialized, customized service in the setting of a small group of divers....I felt safe, in good hands and with a very experienced dive master. I highly recommend John Gransbury as your guide and you can then be prepared to have a day of fun, laughter and an awesome dive experience downunder.

My husband and I joined John Gransbury, Professional Dive Services, for the Julian Rocks - Byron Bay Day Trip, which included two dives. John has world-wide experience and skills, and is quite the entertaining story-teller. We felt well-taken care of in regards to: being provided gear that we weren't able to pack from home, riding a speedboat a short distance to the dive spot from the beach, and knowing exactly what to expect. John has a nice camera, and took many photos of my husband and I floating among the sea life (at the time of this review posting - just hours after getting back from the dive trip, we can't wait to see them!). Overall, John's a real down-to-earth guy that's quick with a joke and truly made our day memorable. We would dive again with him for sure!
