- catkid3Victoria, Australia156 contributionsImpressive displays you can access for free! Was very impressed with this free museum. The Lego Jurassic World exhibit was under construction during our visit and will require a ticket to access, but the rest of the museum was open to the public. Current exhibits involved insects, dinosaurs and a collection of Australian animals & objects. A cafe is present but is quite pricey and had a small menu. No water fountains are present unless you want to fill up from the taps in the toilets. Worth checking out if you need to fill in a few hours or want to escape the heat.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 27, 2023
- djsmuOntario, Canada92 contributionsQueensland Museum a must!Museum was excellent, had a nice little café there as well. Really enjoyed the warm museum on the lower floor and really like the history of Australia on the fourth floor. It was also completely free and easy to get toVisited January 2024Traveled soloWritten February 16, 2024
- KBofLBLittleborough, United Kingdom555 contributionsFind the tankThis museum specialises in the natural history of Queensland and regional Aboriginal culture and has a wide range of relevant exhibits. It has a separate section which deals with ANZAC from a local perspective and is quite illuminating (especially by reference to some appaling treatment of Aboriginal servicemen). One of the exhibits is an early German tank which was 'captured' by an ANZAC unit and brought to Brisbane as 'spoils of victory'. The museum is well worth visiting.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 18, 2024
- Cassandra G9 contributionsWonderful way to spend a few hoursWas a wonderful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinosaur exhibition. The museum itself was a lot smaller than I expected. We did not pay to see the Lego exhibition but there were several in the free area that were very impressive. My only negative feedback (aside from parents needing to control their wild screaming children) …it was difficult to identify some bones/animals because of a lack of numbering/lettering beside the specimen. Otherwise I highly recommend a visit!!! Oh….and the books in the souvenir shop 😍Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 26, 2024
- Joan S34 contributionsBrickmans Jurassic ParkVisited Brickmans Jurassic Park - was absolutely wonderful. Loved that you were able to try and build things, for which I am hopeless, but tried. Managed to do a foot print. The signage was really great and there was a great story going through. Unfortunately, I had not seen the last Jurassic Park film, but got the gist...Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten July 14, 2024

Booked July 2020 for 2 people for 1.00pm Sat 21 Nov 2020. Filled out appropriate Forms, printed out tickets in advance. All Ready to go. Online advice said to arrive 5 minutes before entry time, and no earlier. Arrived as per instruction all the way from Hervey Bay. Found 200 plus! people in a queue. Asked lady at entry if we could enter as per our booking, advising we had everything here completely filled out. She asked what time was the booking for. We advised 1pm (exactly on time). She gave us a lame sorry, you have to go to the end of the queue, turned her back on us and walked off. We did not stay. They were nowhere near starting to process any of these poor people standing in the queue which was so daunting. With a specified time also for staying in the museum itself, it was impossible to see how this timeline was going to be achieved. Incredibly bad preparation for alot of people, including us. And disgraceful customer service from the staff. We will not be back. It should have been a brilliant experience but left a very bad taste in our mouths. Again, disgraceful.

Crazy busy and loud with running and shouting children. I think it's a great place to take kids btw but if you are interested in the exhibitions come in the morning to avoid those school holiday crowds. It's free though and I like that. Also some of the exhibitions are very interesting and worth the time

We were in the area and decided to stop in. The museum was free and we paid for the patagonia dinosaur special exhibit. The special exhibit was okay but not among the top dinosaur traveling exhibits we have seen in other countries. There was also some work going on so some areas were closed. There were some nice displays of specimens of various types but it was pretty busy when we were there so that was a little distracting. Overall, if you are in the area, this relatively small museum is worth a stop.

Displays are well set out, informative, interactive and very easy to navigate through. Being greeted at the entrance with valuable information was very helpful. Findings in Qld of dinosaur remnants is absolutely amazing and still more to come according to recent media reports.

Would have given it 5 star but we were around it in an hour as there wasn’t all that much to see. Frustratingly, arguably the main attraction of the museum, the dinosaur section, was closed which was very disappointing. Probably explained why we weren’t there for long.
Nonetheless what they did have there was great with a wide range of artefacts from ancient civilisations to a huge variety of stuffed animals from around Australia.
The German tank in the War exhibit was easily the highlight and the collection they had here was fantastic.

As a free entertainment offering, you can’t go past the museum. Being able to move around at your own pace in air conditioned comfort is a definite bonus in summer. The special offerings, such as the lego display, require both pre-booking and payment but I am sure it is worth it for those who are interested in these.

We spent an entire day at the Museum exploring all of the artefacts and then visiting the ticket dinosaur exhibit. It was a wonderful day out. Entrance was free and we never felt rushed at all. We did over spend in the gift shop but there were just too many beautiful things to buy.

An excellent museum with plenty of artworks to offer. Very tidy floors, security is everywhere, but they are so quiet that you don't notice their presence, and everyone was wearing their masks which maintained a level of safety and calmness around. Looks like the museum is at good hands with management always finding new installations to showcase!

Like most museums there is always something interesting or new to see and learn about. And a good place to visit on a rainy day. Queensland Museum is easy to access in South Brisbane and from South Bank and the CBD. Various themes/displays occur on several levels, including an Anzac Legacy Gallery, minerals, Australian coral reef research, the Pacific, Science learning centre for children/school groups (entry fee to SparkLab), and a diverse exhibition of Australian fauna and habitats (Wild State). Lots of information and photographs provided.
The Museum also holds temporary exhibitions, and during my stay in Brisbane I enjoyed 'Disney: The Magic of Animation' (fee applied). Free entry to the Museum and most of the exhibits.

Closed on our arrival and open the last day of our holiday, was lucky to get a tour of the Museum in.
Free entry - Plenty to see and very informative.
Can travel and view everything at your own pace, sit back and learn.
Science section - Paid entry was also very informative.
Museum attendant at the Musical Pipes out gave us a very entertaining rendition of a few tunes he had learned. Was a great and loved it.
