We were on a cruise from Bali to Sydney and we stopped in Darwin. The city is very small, but very well kept. The beach was a really nice place to sit for a couple of hours and enjoy the views. We did not swim but thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Not your typical Australian beach mainly because you either can't swim (in the wet season) or it is not that appealing to swim. But if you enjoy a peaceful walk along a quiet beach with your dog and family with a fresh breeze to cool you off while watching Australia's best sunset, then this is the place to go.

Mindil Beach is nice but nothing really to rave about compared to other pristine beaches of the world. The sunsets here are probably the best thing. When the markets are on it is a very popular place with a lovely tropical atmosphere and yummy smell of cooking foods. The draw backs would be that it is soooo bloody hot here... More

Went to the Mindil market on a Sunday night, was lots of entertainment and plenty of food trucks/stalls. Was very nice to sit at the beach and watch the sunset. Would definitely go back.

We were blessed with a picture perfect sunset. Thoroughly enjoyed the didgeridoo duet. There were many stalls selling everything from a variety of food, clothing and jewellery. Loved the array of pearls for sale!

I always thought that those pictures of the NT sunsets were photoshopped but to my delight at Mindil Beach they came to life . It was a moment of magic . Great parking , good public transport access and beautiful trees and garden area for plenty of shade . People with disabilities may find it somewhat difficult to access the... More

Our first trip to Darwin included a trip to the markets, as this is what everyone recommends. From our experience a number of the food from the stalls was dry and barely edible. The music was great but not so the behaviour of intoxicated locals fighting on the path along the waterfront.

huge range of food, plenty of places to sit and eat, plenty of parking, beautiful ocean views. BUT the food area is WAYa too crowded for me, especially with children and prams

Sunset in Mindil Beach is the best. If you visit the beach on dry season, there will be markets on Thursday and Sunday evening which always be full of people and very crowded. The food sold in stalls was OK. I myself enjoyed Mindil best on its quiet time. Bring your chairs and kids to enjoy the sunset.
