Pros -Great sunset, lots of hermit crabs in unusual shells and nice relaxing, natural feeling. Cons - not so sure about swimming. There are many nicer beaches in Australia, though.

Nice beach with brown reddish fine sand surface, partly not very clean with a lot of leftover from tress stem. Not good season for swimming because of Box Jelly Fish sting risk during October to May. However, what make this beach famous is the sunset market. This beach got its popular name from this activity, the sunset market. Not too... More

Typical outdoor markets open Thursday and Sunday. A wide variety of merchandise including Aboriginal Art at lower prices that in the shops. Some artists are actually there and painting at the markets. We went twice over a two week stay and found it very busy but also quite informative and well worthwhile. The sunsets on the beach are quite beautiful

Mindil Beach Markets are well worth a Visit. They run from the End of Wet Season through to the end of October approx.

This is a must for all visitors to Darwin. The markets are such a vibrant place and food from all around the world to feast on. The Mindil Sunsets are just beyond beautiful and hard to really describe just how majestic they are - something to really experience.

We just arrived in Darwin after spending 11 days driving through the Outback – desert, dust, miles of nothing. We learned of the night market at Mindil Beach in our Lonely Planet guide and it just so happened that it was going on the night we arrived in Darwin. What a treat it was to see so many different varieties... More

We enjoyed a beautiful Sunset at the large sandy Mindil Beach with a peaceful athmosphere just next to lively Mindil market.

The storms had washed so much debris (logs etc) up onto the beach which meant it didn't look nice and sandy but was worth going just before sunset for the most spectacular sunset! The photos I am attaching were not edited. It's that amazing!
