This is a brief overview of my 5 day Venture North Tour to Kakadu, Arnhem Land and the Coburg Peninsular, a pristine and very remote area of Australia with Venture North. We were based in the Coburg Coastal Camp overlooking the ocean in very comfortable permanent tented accommodation. The sunsets were stunning and enjoyed while having predinner canapes and drinks. Early morning walks along the beach revealed dingo tracks and evidence of larger nocturnal visitors. I picked oysters of the rocks, went mud crabbing and fishing. We had a beautiful walk along the Barramundi River culminating in a swim in the billabong, and other walks to view rock art, the best in Australia. The cruise on the Corroboree Billabong was another highlight, seeing huge crocodiles in their natural environment and spectacular birdlife amongst the lotus flowers, bordering the waterway. Damon was an outstanding knowledgeable guide and also very competent in the preparation of tasty meals. Every day was so enjoyable filled with memorable activities and the beautiful nature unique to the Territory. Anne

This was our second time with Venture North and it did not disappoint! As we’d been on tour with Venture North before, we really wanted to relax and enjoy the coastal camp, Aaron tailor-made the tour to suit our needs. We were well looked after with an afternoon of fishing with the knowledge guides and friendly host Holly, and fresh fish cooked by the in-house chef nothing was too much trouble for the team. The facilities are second to none, they’re really thought of everything.

We took a 2 day NT/Kakadu Tour with our guide Dave. His knowledge of the flora, fauna and indigenous culture and history was phenomenal. Both days were packed full of encounters and learnings, starting from our first detour to Leaning Tree Lagoon, then a cruise down Corroboree Billabong teeming with beautiful birds, lily pads (& so many crocodiles ), lunch on the banks of South Alligator River, followed by a refreshing dip in the picturesque Maguk waterfall (no crocodiles) and a stunning Kakadu sunset after a short climb onto Nourlangie Rock lookout. Day 2 started with a visit to Ubirr rock art site, a natural overhang housing a vast collection of rock art, then an easy climb up to the rocky lookout which gave us 360 degree view of the surrounding floodplains. A delicious lunch was provided at the Mamukala Wetland bird hide, followed by the highlight of the day – Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise. The cruise operators provided up close and personal encounters with these amazing reptiles that demonstrated their incredible potential. The whole trip was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced before. We will definitely be Venturing North again.

We went on Venture North's Arnhem Land/Coburg Peninsula journey with Alex as our leader/driver/guide/walking encyclopedia and chef. He was exceptional in every way and we all (six in the group) appreciated his knowledge and skills and enjoyed his company. The landscapes are stunning, the remoteness is captivating, the history is fascinating. the Indigenous art stunning and the people are welcoming. We enjoyed everything - cruising Corroboree Billabong, driving through the Arnhem Land escarpment, walking to Anbabang Billabong and Nawalandja lookout, climbing Injalak Hill to witness the best rock art in the world, visiting interesting Garig Gunak Barlu National Park sites and the Visitor Centre, 'hunting and gathering' traditional style for our dinner, watching crocodiles (and foolhardy tourists) at Cahill's Crossing and driving through remote areas we would never have seen independently. And...Venture North's Coburg Camp is simply delightful - rustic (loved the outdoor ablutions) and relaxed and such a great place to just be. Alex, Trav and Annie treated us guests like royalty, and all we were allowed to do was sit back and enjoy the food (and wine), the sunset and the company. We can't recommend this trip and this company highly enough. and will certainly go on another adventure in our beautiful county with Venture North again.

Had the best trip of our 3 weeks in Australia to the Kakadu national park. We had a very knowledgeable, pleasant guide , Stephen. Told us many interesting things about all the animals, birds , the area and rock art. Would definitely hire him again for a longer tour should we ever come back to Australia. WELL worth it 👍🏻 Elaine and Peter
