We boarded a traditional, old style ketch at Stokes Hill Wharf, Dock 3, ~1hr before sunset for a 2.5 hr 4-course dinner cruise around Darwin Harbour. We were allocated a table for two on the rear starboard side on the lower deck - could not have been better. The weather was perfect and as soon as we were underway out came a selection of home-made dips and crackers. BYO was available so we had brought on board a bottle of white wine which our waitress (Vivian) placed in an ice bucket together with chilled wine glasses. Then came the self-serve entrees - a delicious selection of banana prawns, coffin bay oysters, salads, and crusty breads - never ending - if the prawns or oysters needed replenishing, more were brought out. Following this entrée feast we were asked whether we would like fish or steak for a main course. We both chose the fish and it was amazing. All this time we were cruising at a very low speed along Darwin Harbour, with the sun setting, and observing the beautiful views of the city skyline - a truly relaxing experience. As we slowly turned for our return journey we were offered a cheesecake dessert and tea or coffee. The informative captain's commentary, together with the cheerful and helpful staff, and the friendly banter with other guests, made this leisurely, value for money dinner cruise one we will always remember. Cannot recommend highly enough.
