Experience the tranquility of the pre-dawn land under a canopy of stars....

Experience the tranquility of the pre-dawn land under a canopy of stars. Then watch the amazing transformation of colours and life as the desert awakens with Uluru and Kata Tjuta as your backdropTravel away from the crowds to a secluded sand dune to watch the spectacular sight of sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. In the company of your expert guide and with no more than 11 other passengers, Desert Awakenings is designed to introduce you to the natural and cultural landscapes of this remarkable region.Sunrise and bushman's breakfast: arrive at your private dune top viewing area well before the sun breaches the horizon. As your traditional bushman's breakfast is being prepared over the fire, your guide will explain the retreating star scape above. Enjoy a cup of Billy Tea and Damper as you watch the sunrise over Uluru and the vast landscape stretching as far as the eye can see. After breakfast your guide will explain the natural history of the region, and as the daylight reveals the myriad of animal tracks in the sand an insight into what activity took place during the night.Cultural Centre and Uluru: next depart for Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and the first stop is the Cultural Centre, a vibrant and engaging place of learning where the local lore of the Anangu (Aboriginal people) is explained in detail. Next stop is Uluru (Ayers Rock) where you can take a short walk into Mutitjulu waterhole. A visit here will help appreciate its cathedral like proportions and why it is such a powerful and spiritual place for visitors and Anangu alike. A guide will explain some of the rock paintings and some of the stories from the creation period as told by the Anangu people.Desert Awakenings is a much sought after experience that delivers insight into the ancient landscape, ecology, culture, heritage, and history of what is now regarded as Australia's spiritual heartland.

Magical sunrise followed by 12 km base walk which is flat with plenty of stops and explanation from the tour guise ATT Kings. One wonders though why the Tour guide was not an Aborigine from the area? The included breakfast left me underwhelmed.

We had a 0530 start and were met by Serena and Leroy (our indigenous guide). We were taken to a beautiful platform where we ate breakfast while watching the sunrise over Uluru. The views were spectacular and the food was delicious. This is the same place that they run the Tali Wiru intimate dinners so it was warm and comfortable.... More

The viewing area atop a sand dune offered a wonderful view of the sun rising and coloring the face of Uluru Ayers Rock. Bush damper and maple syrup with coffee and a hearty bacon and egg roll cooked fresh while we listened to the sounds of the desert awakening was certainly worth the early start. Followed by a guided tour... More

This was a well organised, highly informative tour thanks to Justin who also made us laugh. After being driven in a huge, comfortable 4 wheel drive to a private viewing platform just before sunrise we were able to watch the beautiful colours whilst eating the most delicious egg and bacon rolls, damper and honey, Danish pastries, tea, coffee and hot... This is such a awesome tour that I have done it twice! The first time in March 2015 on our first visit and then again in July when we came back with our sons. I loved the small group, the knowledgeable guide, and the most gorgeous sunrise! Breakfast egg rolls and damper were good as well.

This is a brilliant experience - truly a "must do" - and because the group numbers are limited to 16 it has a more intimate feel than some tours. The tour took almost 6 hours and was a great way to spend a morning. Our guide Justin is a really friendly, extremely knowledgeable man with a great sense of humour.... More

I did this tour while at Uluru last week. I'd read many reviews about it and a guide called Justin, They were all true - Justin is knowledgeable, funny and very good at his job. He's very natural in his delivery and never struggled for facts and stories. I would think (and hope) the local indigenous people would be pleased... More
