Our trip to Alice Springs then Uluru (Ayers Rock) from Darwin was a rushed decision for 9 or 10 days and I did not have sufficient time to put it all together. The first phone call to this Alice Springs VIC was picked up by Emily Ilgin, a Californian originally, who mostly worked it out very well, with occasional help from Susan, the team leader. The focus and effort on our itinerary was unusually efficient, I must add.
It is busy there at the centre, situated towards one end of Todd Mall, as one can imagine, though due to Covid, not as much. They have for sale interesting 3D gift items e.g. fridge magnets, place mats, etc.
One thing of value mentioned by Emily was that if a rental car is booked through them, which we did, it came with unlimited Kms/day, compared to the limit of 100Kms/day plus extra payment per Km if done directly by myself. So we drove from Alice Springs to Uluru in a rental car, which was cheaper than bus transfers, which is $180 pp one way. And having a car in Uluru was not essential but helpful. We bought a 3 day Park Pass for $76 for 2 people at the Ayers Rock Resort.
Give this team a go, you wont regret it.

This was our very first big family driving holiday with two small children leaving NSW and we wanted to set out our itinerary before leaving so we could plan around our budgets and time spent in the area. We got in contact with Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre and spoke with the lovey Em before we left and were able to really discuss what we were wanting, the age of our children and she helped us greatly with what attractions to see and do and guiding us in how long we needed to spend in the area. We managed to then see Em in person on our trip and she was so lovely to provided us with additional maps and that extra knowledge of great local eateries that we could also go to as a family. Highly recommend all to make contact via phone/email and in person as this place has a wealth of worthy information and fabulous affordable gifts. Definitely will return.

My Wife and I stopped by the Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre a month ago on our trip to the Australian outback. We were impressed with the helpful and friendly service that greeted us immediately after entering the information center. The Lady who assisted us was so very cordial and welcoming and, of course, knowledgeable about Alice Springs and the area that we were glad that we stopped in.

In addition to the quality of the staff, the Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre itself is a roomy, spacious, nicely decorated building with many literature racks and shelves of local goods and reading materials. It was one of the nicest-looking, best equipped information centers that I had ever seen!

Stop by - even if just to look the place over and say "Hello".

I was in contact with the Visitor Info Centre in AS a month or so before our trip to Central Australia. They organised a rental car at a good rate from a well-known company and mailed us maps, booklets and brochures. On our first day in Alice visited their Todd St premises for some more information - and did not leave empty handed. Excellent information on road conditions as well as on the sights of the East Macs, which we had not previously considered visiting. I could not fault the service we received. The centre also sells a lot of souvenirs at reasonable prices.

This was in Todd St Alice Springs. First staff member that served me tried to be helpful. I spoke to I think he was the manager and he was terse n rude. No hello how are you. Opened with do you have a question or do you want to buy something. I said I had come in to tell the lady who served me that you could buy the CU in the NT merchandise across the mall. She had given me 2 businesses quite a drive away. He informed me he didn’t like that promotion and refused to stock it. I advised him this was a tourist information centre. You are supposed to stock what the tourist want not what you line personally. Also there 3 times as many Uluru postcards as there was Alice Springs. Sad that it’s not doing a good job promoting the local area

Hi mummalk, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We do not stock merchandise from your above mentioned brand, as it is not official (and never has been) Northern Territory marketing or branding. It is a privately owned company and is only stocked in a few businesses within Alice Springs. If you would like to speak to someone further about these matters, please reach out to Susan on susan.silvester@discoverca.com.au

Popped into the centre for some information and tips about the region. The Centre is quite spacious and nicely decorated with heaps of literature to browse through. We were assisted by Kylie ( apparently She's on "L Plates". She was extremely polite, jovial and helpful, went out of her way to assist but at the same time, very professional. She gave us great tips and ideas about where to go & what to see. This is a definite must to do when you first arrive in Alice Springs.

Excellent service in arranging car hire for our upcoming trip.

The car hire team did all the research to find the best available price for our complex hire and got back to us, with options, within 24hours.

Even when our chosen preference was no longer available, they were quick to find an alternative, on the spot. Even saved us a further few hundred dollars.

The unlimited km hire and no-fee additional driver, which are only available if booking through the Visitor Centre, were a bonus!

Kylie and Susan at the Alice Springs centre could not have been more helpful. They went above and beyond to accommodate the many changes I had to make to my bookings, all with a great sense of compassion and humour. Our trip, which was one motoring disaster after another was made bearable, even enjoyable purely due to their efforts on our behalf. I am very grateful to them for their positive energy and can-do attitudes.

As a standard visitor centre it fulfils all checklists, however, it stood out to us by its amazing staff. They were so friendly and nice to chat with that we spent quite a bit of time there. Plus. the souvenir collection is really noteworthy
