Time of year
We did the big loop road stopping every time we found something of interest. The road isn't busy, and in pretty good condition considering some of the articles I had read about it. I wouldn't do it in a 2wd car with average suspension as the corrugations would be annoying but…
Drove it today, not towing. Its a little rough but certainly no car killer. The scenery toward the eastern end is terrific. If youve never driven a corrugated road it will come as a bit of a shock, but if youve driven typical outback corrugated roads the Mereenie Loop is not…
I have 4 wheel driven all over Australia for years but I have never driven such a disgraceful popular tourist route. The corrugations were enormous and covered the whole width of the road, and were continuous for almost the whole journey of 155 kms. An aboriginal worker in Alice…
We drove from Hermannsburg to Yulara and it was a bit of suffering as the road is extremely bumpy. Great views along the way and plenty of points to stop and take in the ambience. This is not a road for light weight cars as they could be shaken to death.
