Drove it today, not towing. Its a little rough but certainly no car killer. The scenery toward the eastern end is terrific. If youve never driven a corrugated road it will come as a bit of a shock, but if youve driven typical outback corrugated roads the Mereenie Loop is not

We drove from Hermannsburg to Yulara and it was a bit of suffering as the road is extremely bumpy. Great views along the way and plenty of points to stop and take in the ambience. This is not a road for light weight cars as they could be shaken to death.

The ranges out along that route is to die for! Superb scenery! We saw two mobs of wild camels, there and on the Ernest Giles Road! Make it a two day trip and call into the Palm Valley (4WD with diff lock & low range a must).
