My boyfriend & I vacationed, in Sydney, Australia, in May 2016. We visited this zoo, while there, and really enjoyed it. The zoo was more spacious than we thought it would be (for an indoor city zoo). I especially enjoyed viewing the kangaroos in the outside area as well as briefly petting the echidna (the back of it feels like... More

This is a must see if you're in Sydney and especially if the weather isn't great. The venue is 95% indoors so you can happily wander through when it's cold or raining outside. There are only a few outdoor areas. Upstairs, there's an area where you can have your photo taken with a koala, as well as a place to... More

Right in Darling Harbour, we could see this small zoo from the apartment balcony where we were staying. It focuses mainly on Australian animals- kangaroo, wallaby, Tasmanian devil, platypus (which were hiding from our sight), echidna, wombat, many reptiles & birds. Great koala area. We saw 3 mothers with their little joeys! Also got to pet the happiest animal on... More

Like the next door Sea Life Sydney Aquarium (they share a ticket counter and an entrance, and you can buy a package deal for both that makes the cost of each much more palatable) this is not a traditional zoo, which one can imagine is set up with enclosures tailored to the animals, where people can watch. Limited space here... More

Looking for a place to show overseas visitor Australian animals this is the place. Taronga is great but you need all day!! We spent 2 hours wandering through, having our photo with the koala and the kids strapped on a harness and flew around the zoo on the ariel course. Lots of fun and laughs. The roof top cafe sells... Spent a few hours in the attraction. It is a good option for a rainy day. I felt there are more reptiles on show than the mammals. There are feeding sessions throughout the day, where the visitors can feed the animals. If the weather is good, I would suggest going to an Australian zoo or wildlife park instead of this... More

Went to this place recently. Nice way to spend a couple of hours. Not the pomp and glamour of Taronga Zoo but a nice experience nonetheless. Capped off the afternoon by riding the rooftop swing with my son. We both loved it and had a great laugh. Great views of the place and darling harbour also!

It's quite small but it's great because you get really close to the animals. It's a one-way route also which is easy to follow and makes sure that you see everything. They had kangaroos, Koalas, Platypus and Tasmanian Devils....and a huge Crocodile. There is one part where you can walk through the kangaroo enclosure. Surprisingly for a zoo, the food... More

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
