Listening to the SSO playing the mammoth Mahler Symphony No.2 last night under the baton of Maestro David Robertson reinforced my long held view that here in Sydney we have much more than a very good orchestra. We truly have a great one. The strings are very strong indeed now after a couple of seasons with Andrew Haveron as co... More

We went to see the Sydney Symphony at the opera house concert hall and had a wonderful evening. They were equally adept at both supporting the soloist and playing orchestral pieces. Wonderful.

We were here for Roman Trilogy: Schumann’s Cello Concerto presented by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The show was really, really good. There are various programs to choose from throughout the year and they have various types of shows – comedy, musical, theatre, etc. While waiting for the show to start, there’s finger food and beverages available for purchase. Be sure... More

Enjoyed it more because of the seat - had one on the side of the Orchestra in the concert Hall rather than the main seating - was able to be immersed in how the Conductor and Orchestra worked together - appreciated the show so much more tha being a passive observer at the rear.

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra has several programmes throughout the year. One of them is “Tea & Symphony” held on eight Fridays per year at Sydney Opera House. Complimentary tea begins in the foyer at 10:00am and the concert starts at 11:00am in the Concert Hall. Once a year I go to Sydney to catch up with my old friend and... More

We were delighted to see Enigma Variations at the Sydney Symphony Orchestra with David Robertson as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director. The music in that amazing structure was absolutely splendid!!! A very memorable evening!

Had never heard this orchestra before, but wanted to see the Concert Hall. Very easy to book tickets on the Internet & it doesn't matter where you sit as the sightlines are excellent. They were extremely good with a great programme (usually Friday & Monday evenings & Saturday afternoon. Only gave it 4 stars as we were put off by... More

Went to see the Sydney Symphony take on Sci-Fi Classics- from the big movie numbers to the new Doctor Who theme, was a truly excellent experience in the surroundings of the Opera House. Conductor was good humoured and kept things flying along, hardly felt like we were there for 10 minutes, but 2 full hours of music had passed by.... More

We were lucky to get 2 very good seats for the "Symphonic Insperation" conducted by David Robertson. Very enjoyable music, great ambiance, a once in your lifetime must to visit a concert at Sydney Opera House. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
