Address
Neighborhood: Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighborhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colorful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighborhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.

Three choices sit well outside and order via an app
Or sit in the main restaurant, outside or in, or go upstairs. Steak and oysters perfect, extensive wine list. Service fast, and polite.

Pity management rarely replies to feed back

Dined at The Winery with friends for the Bottomless Brunch. Food and drinks were free flowing. The boys would have liked beer to be included. The did try to ask us to move on after our allotted 2 hours however the hadn’t served our dessert. A complimentary bottle of Prosecco was given to us if we moved downstairs. Patrick was an amazing waiter and very patient.

Yesterday I had lunch here with a group of 4 friends. We stayed with the group set menu and chose to order different wines by the glass through out our lunch.

Even though the restaurant was booked to capacity the service was faultless and friendly, our waters were topped up regularly along with new glasses of wine arriving like clockwork. The whole meal flowed very well. The dishes arrived with a reasonable time in between them and before we knew it, we realised that two hours had past.

The food was simply delicious, all served to share by the group: the entrees ranged from spinach & cheese arancini to pork & veal sausage rolls and chickpea dip to charred watermelon, buffalo mozzarella salad. The mains consisted of half a harissa glazed chicken and a pan seared fish of the day, served with rocket salad and fries. We finished up with chocolate brownies with cookie-crumb, salted caramel ice cream. Needless to say everything was delicious and cooked just right. The Winery is definitely one of my favourite places to catch up with friends with always a nice selection of wines by the glass.

We were here during unprecedented bad weather but still took a cab to the Winery due to good reviews we had seen. We arrived drenched after walking from the cab to the restaurant (not easy to find in torrential rain). No one was interested. We were seated after a while in a doorway (seriously) with one of us sat outside and the other inside despite obviously being holidaymakers and very very wet. Meant was limited. Food was ok but nothing more. We asked for the waitress to call us a cab home but she clearly didn’t want to do we then got drenched trying to find a cab home. Everyone we have met in Australia has been so friendly so far but tonight’s experience was dreadful. I would not recommend giving them your business as they clearly don’t value it.

Do not go to the winery for lunch or dinner. Worst service worst food and didn’t care less about it. I used to go every Sunday for lunch about a year ago and now it’s so poorly run it’s like a cheap cafe with even worse food. Oysters were green and slimy like they had been in the fridge for days. The meat board was a joke and all the wines were not available. Close down and start again. Go somewhere else . It’s really really bad. The host just said I’m really sorry and walked off like it was normal feedback. Shocking to say the least.

Let’s start on a positive note.
It is a lovely venue for parties, drinks and just chilling out.
Our group was one of 20+ and upon arrival our tables were not set up. We ended up moving three times to accommodate us. It was a special celebration, and booked well in advance.
The food was a set menu, with shared plates. Nothing to write home about.
Service was dreadful as well, with long waits between courses and disengaged staff.
Would I go back? Probably not.

I have been to The Winery a number of times due to the proximity to the office, and although the garden setting is lovely the food isn't great. I ordered the steak and it was pretty average and very fatty.
Can get a better steak I believe at the local pub!

The place a little quirky and the food is delicious. I like when a restaurant has a simple menu and if you do to this is the place. Everything is delightful and fresh. We had the chicken and I have never had such juicy and well seasoned food before. This is a must visit if in Sydney and be sure and get a reservation.
