Perfect place to get your photo with the Opera house and the Harbour Bridge in the background. I really enjoyed this walk. It's suprisingly relaxing for such a big busy city. The botanic gardens has lots of lovely places to sit down and rest your legs for a while too. A must do.

one of the best walks in the world. The gardens next to the opera house, next to a harbour, next to a bridge, next to a world class city.

Very relaxing walk. Easy. Walk along the Harbour from the OH, then up into the gardens. Sometimes a jungle. Bats hanging from trees, good aromas from the flowers. It is quite nice, an oasis in the middle of the city. Cafe right in the center to stop for a coffee or cool drink and a snack. Do it!

A most unique and wonderful place to wander around. Enjoy a stroll or a sit on the grass taking in the view of the Opera House and Harbour. A truly magnificent part of Sydney and the world. Best on a sunny day, but not too hot. Easy, relaxing, child-friendly. Walk through the Botanic Gardens.

I love going for a walk through the Botanic Gardens, whether I'm heading somewhere such as the AGNSW, or spending the afternoon there. Don't miss walking all the way along the foreshore to Mrs Macquarie's Chair (the next point along). There are great views of the Opera House from there. I used to love running this route as part of... More

Walking past the opera house and through the gardens is a great treat even in the winter. If you're going to do it make sure you walk all the way to Mrs Macqarie's Chair. You get a great view of the harbor from there without having to take a ferry. Great spots to just sit and chill in a harbor-front... More

What a walk from the Opera House to Lady Macquarie's Chair via the Botanic Gardens....stunning view of the CBD on one side and the sea on the other....and people jogging in the afternoon....one of the rare spots wherein you have everything - sea, gardens, tall buildings, architectural landmarks - in one place!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
