Even as a born and bred Sydneysider, this is a breathtaking experience. Yes you will wait for food, yes the food is expensive, yes you should get there early to nab a seat, but it is a fantastic night out. You could bring a picnic and eat it there but I wouldn't bother. An absolute Sydney must do.

Wow what an amazing experience . Despite finding out about this place in a Tourist to do leaflet it seemed nobody inc the woman in the TOurist info kiosk had a clue what we was talking about when trying to find out info . Found the info via Google . All the tickets was sold out on ticket master so... More

Excellent night out. Be sure to get there before 6pm and you'll get a park right outside. Very civilised queue to get in and reserve your seats. Then you are free to do what you want till 8.30pm. Recommend you take a picnic and eat in the park adjacent. The food is not good at the venue and cheapest wine... More

I've been coming here now for the last 10 years and it has yet to disappoint. St George Open Air cinema is THE summer event everyone wants in on !! With the Sydney Harbour as the backdrop, the screen rising up out of the water, THIS is what you want in an outdoor cinema. It's electric, its majestic, its Sydney... More

Heard about this place for years, finally got the opportunity to visit in Feb 2016. The place was fully packed, but in a nice way. The screen size is actually quite large, with a great sound system, which took many of us by surprise - we were not expecting it. The Café & Bar was handy for a quick bite... More

We were lucky to secure tickets in the VIP section. It was a fabulous evening, the only downside was the dreadful film selection. "Sisters" was universally panned by the critics. Not sure why this film was selected, other reviewers mentioned quite interesting films. I guess is you are a local you do have the choice of whether you attend on... More

If a friend says they have a spare ticket to the cinema overlooking Sydney harbour and cityscape GO GO GO!!!! Cold beer, good food, no queues to wait in and a fabulous movie to blast the bats out of the trees. I watched Bond blowing things up and it was good but seeing the opera house behind the screen really... More

I reckon there couldn't be better value for your dollar than to have a night out at the annual St George open-air cinema screenings dinner right on Mrs Macquarie's Chair as the sun sets over Sydney Harbour. Dinner was a mixed antipasto platter entree ($28 to share between 2), then mains of Moroccan beef tagine and couscous ($28) and Southern... More

Don't despair! We haven't been before so I read many reviews and two things concerned me the most - weather and food. Can't do much about the weather but I'm glad I didn't buy tickets in advance because we were free to check the weather and make up our mind on the day. The cinema releases extra tickets on the... We recently attended the Sydney Festival 'St George Open Air Cinema. What a fabulous event. This was one of the most elegant of outdoor cinemas and a first-class summer night out. You get allocated seats in the stadium you can watch the screen rise up over the water, with the Opera House and Bridge in the background. Before the showing,... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
