The State is one of Sydney's gems. If you have a chance to see a show here the you are in for a treat. It is a magical wonderland that transports you to where ever the playwrite or show wants to take you. Acoustics are very good and the views from the seating is good.

Attending a concert here is truly a treat. I highly recommend coming early and enjoying the marble foyer. Quite a magnificent building and only one of a few left in Sydney.

Built in 1928, this magnificent art Deco cousin of the Fox theaters in Atlanta and Detroit is a must visit for its history and beauty.

Gotta love the State Theatre, book tickets for a show and get to see the performance up close and often very personal. only place I go now for concerts, forget the big venues and enjoy the intimacy of the small venue.

The interior of the State Theatre is beautiful, original Art Deco Rococo, and has been well preserved given its age and the wear and tear of concert goers. I've been to numerous music concerts there over the years, and always enjoy the surroundings. I've found the sound quality mostly good, as long as the instrumentals don't overpower the vocals. The... The State Theatre is a beautiful building and is great for seeing shows in. The angle means that everyone can see and the sound is also very good!

It's a wonderful baroque styled theater with a surprisingly large amount of bars and bathrooms and only mildly extortionate bar prices. I would recommend this theater highly but your experience may vary on the performance.

Love the State Theatre, perfect in every way. Lots of little things going on and around the State now with bars and restaurants. A must go. Book a show.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
