We were lucky to be able to take the tour without booking. Very interesting and we learned a lot about Australian and NSW history, not just political. Well worth doing.

An impressive "home" for the Governor of NSW. But after the tour, my thought was, "why is this function necessary?" Thank you for allowing us to see how the "0.0005% live.

Lovely view through the gardens to get there with lots of flowers in bloom. Grand old building but only open for tours on sunday so we missed out.

Absolutely beautiful gardens. Located right in the middle of the Botanic Gardens and only a short walk from the Sydney Opera House, it is a perfect place to visit. Would have loved to have gone inside, which you can do, but we went at the...More

We made our way easily to this attraction near the Opera House. A Free Tour awaited us with a small group and knowledgeable guide! A bag drop gained the official booking ticket and provided entry to the tour lasting about 30 minutes. We learned history...More

NSW Government House is beautifully situated in the Royal Botanical Gardens - a short walk from the Sydney Opera House. Our tour started punctually and the contents of the building were impressive and interesting. Unfortunately, our young guide, who confessed during his extended and self...More

Having often walked past this glorious House we thought we'd book a free tour to lean more - and take a peek at the inside. Our tour guide was charming and very knowledgeable. She presented her knowledge with humour and a sense of light-heartedness, having...More

Lovely gardens to visit, well kept. Go to their website http://www.governor.nsw.gov.au/government-house/visit-us/visitor-information/ (scroll to bottom) before visiting to avoid disappointment. At times the gardens and/or house are closed for events.

Take the time to stroll through the expansive Botanical Gardens to appreciate the tranquility that our colonial governors visualised and have your camera at the ready to take in the harbour views and you stroll to the very formal Victorian Government House Gates. Government House,...More

You do not need to be a fan of the monarchy and governors to find this building (the official residence of the Governor of NSW) interesting. There's a lot to be learned about the culture of European settlers (aka invaders) and the history of colonial...More

The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with

frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,

There is no self guided tour, you have to go on the organised tour which from memory takes about an hour or two.
