Great service! Decent food!

I've been many times for a lazy afternoon or lunch and every time it's been brilliant! Nothing special just a good Aussie pub!

Stopped in here for a beer, since the whold place was packed with happy people singing and dancing to the tunes of a guy on the guitar. He was GOOD! Seems this is a hit with the locals and they were all very friendly. They are closed for rennovation now, so we were lucky to have experienced it on its... More

Located in the Rocks, this hotel is one I keep returning to. It is the oldest hotel in the city (1843) and retains the charm of the old while being a good place to meet friends for a drink or dinner. It's quite a small bar so can lead to interesting conversations with random strangers.

This is one of the oldest bars so we visited this place after dinner at the Rocks. The atmosphere and the people are more dated. The prices are fair but except for being an old bar I couldn't see any pros to go there again. There was a one-man-band playing old songs.

A nice little bar located near the rocks. It has a nice ambience to it with love music and nice food. It is a little cramped though. If you're a punter this isn't the pub for you, limited poker machines and no TAB facilities

The FOW bills itself as the oldest in Sydney. It is very well located in the Rocks area and close to the Rocks Street Market. It was a good spot to stop in for a pint while walking and would recommend it to anyone of age. Enjoy a pint of Squire's IPA and several local Aussie beers on tap.

I don't usually go for live music but they've had it here several time when I've been by and it was ok but the look of the place an the time passing is unmistakable. They have food and beer on tap so what more would you be looking for?

The oldest pub in Sydney but what an enjoyable evening and would throughly recommend a visit. The muscian was a top performer and responded to multiple requests with ease. Barstaff great in particular the young lady who discussed Rod Stewart track Maggie May with me. Door staff chap first class and an engaging chat was had with him. Fully recommended.

With the live music and friendly crowd, this is a great venue to drop into. It has primarily Australian branded beer and expect to stand or lean against a nearby wall. Drop in for a drink and a bit of pub singing.

Okay, I'm not a huge fan of this place, namely because the only thing that makes it stand out from all of the other pubs in the Rocks is simply the fact that it is one of Sydney's oldest pubs. However that aside, there wasn't all that much about this place that really made me was to hang around for... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
