We spent a couple of hours here last week at the end of the holiday to Sydney & we're so impressed by how beautiful the gardens are. We were right by the fish feeding station at feeding time, great to watch the beautiful koi carp being fed. Thorough tranquil place in the heart of the city, loved it.

Because it is the Chinese New Year of the monkey, this place was rocking today. There were stalls set up, people playing traditional Chinese instruments and although it was hot and humid, there were many peaceful and relaxing places here to rest and to contemplate. I loved it and highly recommend a visit to it during a time of Chinese... More

A very tranquil place amidst the chaos of a giant city especially during the busy period of Chinese New Year. We're entering the year of the monkey which is my animal on the Chinese calendar. There is a lot to see here and I say no rush because it's hot outside and in here cool and calm. Make sure you... More

It's not an exceptional garden of its type, but that doesn't mean it's not still a calming respite from the noise and crush of the city. Some niceties include being able to rent some costumery on site for pictures and a charming and quiet tea house with beverages, pastries and bon mi.

A peaceful spot set back from Darling Harbour in the park area. Though having said peaceful right now they seem to be rebuilding Sydney around it. But that doesn't actually matter as once inside life slows down; there is the calm of water, the stillness of birds, glimmer of fish, the shades of greens and the many differing sizes and... More

In the middle of a huge city, this is a beautiful sanctuary. Very well laid out, easy to walk around and the scenery and plants and buildings are beautiful.

The Chinese Garden is situated within walking distance from Darling Harbour. With a small amount of entrance fee, you can enjoy many types of plants, trees, fish, and waterfall. Don't miss the Koi fish feeding time every 11:30 AM. The garden is very peaceful and relaxing. There are many construction going on around the area, but it is still worth... More

I absolutely loved the Chinese Garden Of Friendship. It only cost $6 to enter and was well worth it. We had a lovely lunch here, also. The gardens are superbly maintained and are an absolute must see and a visual delight. I was very impressed.

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
