This is my favourite place to snorkel in Sydney! Snorkle the left side is full of lots of little fish and snorkel the right side for massive Grouper fish, they are huge and let you swim really close. The restaurant down theres lovely for lunch.

It's a wonderful small beach, overlooking Manly beach! Divers are seen off the sheltered beach, as its a Marine Park. There was even a Wedding on the day we were there! A beautiful setting, indeed!

We walked around from Manly after the bluebottles put us off the main beach. Glad we did, this is a lovely spot and a great walk. Sea was swarm, we saw a couple of fish. Recommended

A tropical beach with clear water. Loved this beach when myself and my boyfriend visited manly, just a short stroll from manly main beach, and much quieter and more idillic. Perfection!

Shelly Beach was the perfect choice for beginners snorkelling experience! A lovely small laid-back beach where everyone was doing 'something' - not just posing! We didn't visit the restaurants - but the facilities for those using the beach were fine.

A good alternative to Manly surf beach with good access to a cafe and plenty of space. Also a nice coastal walk to get there and at the start of the North Head walk.

Our daughter lives in Sydney so bought us to Manley to show us around. The walk from the ferry to Manley beach is about 10 mins via the shops! From Manley beach to Shelly beach is a 20 min stroll - but a lovely walk and the beach itself is lovely. Cafes etc are available. Nice treat.

A pretty beach with a totally different aspect to most others. A great walk from Manly around to Shelly Beach giving you the perfect calm beach to have a swim. Well worth the walk.

In some other locales, this beach would be amazing. But in the context of the Northern Beaches, it's just fine. It's not very large. There is shade around the edges, which is nice. As well as an outpost of the Boathouse, which is great.

Thank JMS18

Staying in Manly

Neighborhood Profile
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbor Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
