A beautiful beach. Although it may not be considered the best beach in Sydney (and somewhat over-commericialised), in terms of encapsulating the recent history of our city, Bondi Beach is a must. If you are able to visit on a sunny day (which isn't difficult in Sydney) you will experience what the Sydney beach culture is all about. Bondi has... More

Hard to believe this is one of the most famous beaches in the world. Overcrowded, surrounded by tacky shops and cheap eats and dangerous to swim at, it really is famous for being close to the city. The surf isn't even that good. Travel to some of the other beaches in the Eastern Suburbs or Northern Beaches- you will find more... More

Bondi is possibly one of the best Urban City Beaches on the Planet! Busy, so interesting people watching ... weird and wonderful. Crystal clear water when we were there. Had a good little Surf but just be mentally prepared for the crowd (just expect a crowded wave and relax). Great Cafes and shopping near by. Surf Clubs are brilliant. Lots... More

There is something about this iconic beach that makes you smile. Even though it iwas winter, the sky was blue and weather was warm and inviting, You can take a walk along the 'prom' and marvel at the number of people enjoying the sunshine. It is a beach - but it is a special beach and worth plotting into your... More

The beach is very beautiful. The water is very blue, clear water and almost white sand. Surfers love this place, so as you can imagine the waves are strong.

This is a very nice beach but very dangerous for swimmers , we where very disappointed as the red flags were up , as the surf was high and it was only suitable for surfers

This is one of the worlds most famous beaches so of course you want to visit. Im in Sydney during winter at the moment but for a Brit like me even the coldest days for Aussies I would still go out in shorts! So we took a walk down there from Bondi Junction (about 30 mins walk) and arrived late... More

Of course if you are more interested in people watching, then winter is not the time. Though we did glean a few eager bathers and surfers on a mild afternoon. Bondi Beach well deserves its reputation as one of the best ten in the world (I wold even say one of the bet three). Miles and endless miles of the... More

As the title suggests, this is the place to come to if you can't bear to be too far from the amenities of civilization. I also hear this is the place to come if you hope to bump into celebrities parading their swimwear or bods. But generally the beach is a bit too crowded (even in winter) for my liking... More

Staying in Bondi Beach

Neighborhood Profile
Bondi Beach
An iconic Australian suburb, Bondi Beach is famous for its fantastic beaches and views. Once the domain of backpackers, hundreds of tourists from all over the world descend en masse to Bondi in December ready to enjoy the "Aussie summer". Bondi Beach boasts impressive ocean views all along the many restaurants and bars on Campbell Parade. Wake up early and take a dip in the surf before walking the scenic stretch from Bondi to Coogee Beach. Stroll through the Saturday organic markets in North Bondi or grab some fish and chips and relax in the grassy area opposite the beach. For more upscale cuisine, head down to Hall Street where a range of new eateries have recently opened. Just make sure to save enough energy for the buzzing nightlife Bondi Beach has to offer.
