Bondi Beach is everything it was billed as. The water was warm. The people watching was excellent. There are a couple of great trail walks. It is a 20 minutes bus ride from downtown.

You couldn't go to Sydney without visiting its most famous beach and watching the surfers ride the waves. It is quite a rough sea but there is a dedicated safe area for swimming and lifeguards are patrolling and keeping watch throughout the day. Behind the beach are some lovely cafes, bars and shops or if you prefer a picnic a... More

I don't even know where to start with this beach... I guess the most unbelievable part about it is its ridiculous proximity to downtown Sydney. It takes just a short bus ride to go from skyscrapers and office buildings to a truly first-rate tropical beach. With white sand; clean, warm water; good waves for surfing and plenty of spots to... Bondi is a nice beach and a must do at least once for everybody but i personally find it over crowded parking is a nightmare and we live in a country with thousands of beaches that are a lot better. Personally i can not see what all the hype is about but thats just my opinion.

Summer officially commenced yesterday and I made a "spur of the moment" decision this morning to visit Bondi Beach. My usual train on The Airport Line to the City with a change at Central to get to Bondi Junction. Regular buses operate from the railway station at Bondi Junction to Bondi Beach for a mere 10 cents..... A hot and... More

This iconic beach has all you could want and is very assessable. It doesn't matter if there are thousands of people there - there is still room to have your own space without feeling crowded.

Would not bother driving out here unless you really want to sun bathe. It's pretty but after 5 minutes that's all there is to do. It's particularly crowded with locals on the weekends.

Staying in Bondi Beach

Neighborhood Profile
Bondi Beach
An iconic Australian suburb, Bondi Beach is famous for its fantastic beaches and views. Once the domain of backpackers, hundreds of tourists from all over the world descend en masse to Bondi in December ready to enjoy the "Aussie summer". Bondi Beach boasts impressive ocean views all along the many restaurants and bars on Campbell Parade. Wake up early and take a dip in the surf before walking the scenic stretch from Bondi to Coogee Beach. Stroll through the Saturday organic markets in North Bondi or grab some fish and chips and relax in the grassy area opposite the beach. For more upscale cuisine, head down to Hall Street where a range of new eateries have recently opened. Just make sure to save enough energy for the buzzing nightlife Bondi Beach has to offer.
