Address
Neighborhood: Bondi Beach
An iconic Australian suburb, Bondi Beach is famous for its fantastic beaches and views. Once the domain of backpackers, hundreds of tourists from all over the world descend en masse to Bondi in December ready to enjoy the "Aussie summer". Bondi Beach boasts impressive ocean views all along the many restaurants and bars on Campbell Parade. Wake up early and take a dip in the surf before walking the scenic stretch from Bondi to Coogee Beach. Stroll through the Saturday organic markets in North Bondi or grab some fish and chips and relax in the grassy area opposite the beach. For more upscale cuisine, head down to Hall Street where a range of new eateries have recently opened. Just make sure to save enough energy for the buzzing nightlife Bondi Beach has to offer.

Australia's most famous beach
Apr 2021
Bondi Beach is 100% Aussie, even though every backpacker in the country seems to turn up for Christmas. The water is clear and normally the surf isn't threatening, and the sand is golden. Life Savers patrol the beach, but please, if you can't swim, restrict yourself to paddling.

Beach Visit - public lockers available?
Feb 2021 • Solo
Hey Everyone
I attempted to go to Bondi beach & hire a surfboard & a public locker
After asking lots of people ( life guards, ticket inspectors, ice cream vendors etc ) and no one knew ! Their pavilion is under construction where they used to be & Bondi looks like it needs some much needed attention! Considering the wealth around you’d assume it’s happening soon

After an hour of walking around I found lockers for hire @ icebergs ocean pool
I could not just pay for the locker only but had to pay for admission as well, so $12 aud in total

Note to council * maybe some signs to let travellers know where they are ( lockers ) or an information booth with a phone support central to the beach

The Bondi people are soo friendly and the beach is amazing itself & we had a great time once settled

Sublime again last year!
Feb 2020
We had such a varied travel diet last year before everything closed, including time spent in Australia and then the United Kingdom on the other side of the world. Bondi had been fabulous with limpid blue waters lapping at the edge of the golden sands. It was amazing to come on an uncharacteristically swell free day last summer. The waters ere quite calm and still for its being Bondi.

One best beaches in Australia
Nov 2020
Bondi beach with its vast stretch of beach and families, nippers, and surfers are amazingly beautiful.

There’s real difference between north and south shore of beach. At present one side sits iconic restaurants and cafes, others have North Bondi surf club.

An easy way to spend time together, bring your chair, beach towel, and please watch out surfers and stingrays, or else Bondi patrol will come to rescue.

A breathtaking and beautiful place, Bondi Beach.

Great place to spend New Year’s Day
Jan 2020 • Friends
I highly recommend visiting Bondi Beach when exploring Sydney, it’s a great place to spend the day if you’re looking to relax and have a beach day and for us there’s no better place to start the year than on the world famous Bondi Beach!

The beach is very well protected by lifeguards, even though the sea was a little rough I felt safe at all times, I don’t think I’ve ever visited a beach so thoroughly patrolled as Bondi is.

One of the best beaches.
Nov 2020 • Couples
Bondi is a great beach, with gorgeous white sand. It’s got a public pool at one end and Icebergs at the other which there’s a fee to enter. There’s lots of cafes along the main road and Esplanade. There’s the Bondi to Coogee Walk. It’s easy to get the 380 bus from Watson’s Bay.

An iconic Australian landmark!
Feb 2020
Sydney has an abundance of iconic landmarks which most visitors to the city put on their sightseeing schedule. And Bondi Beach is certainly one of them. It’s probably true to say that the 1km stretch of that picturesque and sweeping white-sand crescent of Bondi is one of Australia’s most iconic beaches.

Bondi Beach is definitely worth a visit, for some surfing, or swimming, or sunbathing, or walking along the sand, the beach promenade, and the lovely coastal cliff walk that heads south from the beach to Coogee Beach.

Whatever you do at Bondi Beach, do it sensibly. If you intending to swim or surf, use sunscreen as the harsh Australian sun can be cruel on your skin. There are lifeguards on duty, and clear rules for swimming and surfing are in place for your safety. Take care of your belongings; most beach-goers keep their belongings close to them, though I believe there are lockers in one of the pavilions. There’s ample changing and showering facilities.

Even if you don’t want to swim, surf or sunbathe, at least go to Bondi Beach to get a feel for the beach and surfing culture which is a part of the Australian lifestyle. The beach itself is attractive, but it becomes extremely crowded in the warmer months. There’s also lots of other stuff you can do when you get to this beach. Walk along the fine sand, or the beach promenade, or rest awhile, and simply take it all in. There’s some fine street murals to check out on some of the concrete walls by the beach. There’s cafes and shops right in front of the beach, but they do get crowded. Step behind the beach onto Campbell Parade for a plethora of shops (many with a recurring ‘beach theme’), cafes, restaurants and bars. It’s a great stretch for browsing, and for sitting outside watching the passing parade. One of my favourite activities is the Bondi to Coogee cliff top walk. It takes a couple of hours at a leisurely pace; you may even find the smaller Coogee Beach less crowded for beach activities.

Even if you are just going to say you’ve been to Bondi Beach and to get the obligatory selfie, do go to Bondi Beach. The beach is around 7km east of the centre of Sydney; I usually take the 380 bus from Circular Quay; it takes about 45 minutes.

An experience
Oct 2020
Bondi Beach is one of the most iconic places in Australia. It is famous for its waves and its sand. It's a beautiful place. Great for a swim and great for just a walk. We have been there many times. We love to just stroll around. There many cafes and eateries as well as other types of shops. It gets quite busy during warmer months.

It should be called SHARK BEACH!
Aug 2020
My wife and me went there and went swimming. I have to say that although the water is nice, the beach is terribly sandy. It was really white. Be warned, if you go onto the beach wearing socks and sandals like we did, be prepared to get sand all over your socks. Also, make sure you take sunscreen or you will end up really burned all over. I wish someone had told me that as well. We couldn't move for the next 4 days and stayed in our hotel on the bed. At least the room service had plenty of good food in our hotel which was great. The other thing that I wish I had known about were the SHARKS! I never knew that Australia had sharks in the water. It's crazy! Worst of all is that they JUMP OUT OF THE WATER!!The whole place is full of sharks. One guy told us that because we are from the USA they like to eat Americans more than Australians. I saw one jump out of the water that was huge but he said that was just a baby. I got a photo of it to proof it. The people down there are crazy, no way would I ever swim in their sea water if I had known it was infested with sharks.

Always a good day out at Bondi.
Sep 2020
Certainly the best known of the Sydney beaches - it is always a pleasant day out ta Bondi. Although I would try to avoid public holidays when it can get very busy. Nowadays (with COVID) I would suggest Bronte as the more enjoyable alternative. .
