Busy area

Nice beach but overcrowded compared to other local beaches in the area. It appears to be a popular beach for the area

We were here on a week day when it was not crowded. It was beautiful and people in the water were having a great time. There are good restroom and food facilities as well as some shopping. The same was great and the surf looked inviting.

Endless variety of food from European, Asian, Middle Eastern selection. A couple of hotels but average. Bech is great but swamped with beach goers. Parking is also not great. Meter parking which means frequent trips back to the meter.

An iconic Sydney Beach that is on the must see list of most tourists. We caught the bus from Watson's Bay, had a walk on the beach, a bit of a paddle in the water and of course the mandatory snaps. Swim between the flags.

We were warned during the recent heat wave to not to try and get to Bondi as the subway would be crowded as well as the buses that take you there from Bondi Junction. We opted for a mid-week trip and although it was crowded, we did enjoy the beach as well as the salt water pool, just $6.50/person. The... More

Bondi is certainly worth a visit, great food, views and people watching and always something going on there. However there are some negatives as well such as parking is difficult to find, traffic in the area is horrendous especially on weekends and holidays. The restaurants are well patronised but not value for money, you are paying more for location and... More

While Bondi Beach is world famous and a Must See attraction when in Sydney, for someone who has experienced other similar beach communities (Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Venice, etc.) it appeared rather ordinary the day we visited. The surf was low so surfing action was not present. The beachfront is like so many other beach communities with coffee shops, T... More

I did this tour excursion from the Norwegian cruise line I travelled on to Sydney. It was very very hot the day i was there. Not much shade so if you're looking for a tan this is the place. Not much on waves, waves are very small in size. This is a beach with sharks so beware. I recommend the... More

Perhaps one of the most famous beaches in the world and very popular but looking and feeling old and tired. Some nice restaurants but just as many cheap souvenir shops and hippy/surfer all you can eat, all you can drink bars. Very much youth oriented.

Staying in Bondi Beach

Neighborhood Profile
Bondi Beach
An iconic Australian suburb, Bondi Beach is famous for its fantastic beaches and views. Once the domain of backpackers, hundreds of tourists from all over the world descend en masse to Bondi in December ready to enjoy the "Aussie summer". Bondi Beach boasts impressive ocean views all along the many restaurants and bars on Campbell Parade. Wake up early and take a dip in the surf before walking the scenic stretch from Bondi to Coogee Beach. Stroll through the Saturday organic markets in North Bondi or grab some fish and chips and relax in the grassy area opposite the beach. For more upscale cuisine, head down to Hall Street where a range of new eateries have recently opened. Just make sure to save enough energy for the buzzing nightlife Bondi Beach has to offer.
