Bring your walking shoes, cause this can be a long one if done from the ferry port and back, but so worth it! Make sure to grab a map from the tourism center located just outside of the warf...it will come in handy. For the most part the walk has directional signage, but at a few places it was pretty... The Manly Scenic Walkway is a really beautiful coastal walk that takes in both Manly and Shelly beaches. Its great for a slow stroll or a brisk walk with plenty of opportunities to to just stop and enjoy the views over the ocean.

We enjoyed watching the surfers and walking at dusk, my favorite time of day. We ended up in Manly for a bite to eat. Wonderful!

We started our walk from Manly surf club, walked around to Shelley Beach then up and over North Head, spectacular views, we had a coffee at the top and then ventured back down ending up at Manly Hospital area, walking down to the Corso and returned to our accommodation. What a great morning walk we had. All up about 13... More

What a nice combination of exercise and mind stimulation. Great view from the trail over part of Sydney harbour at the Manly side and when lucky both snakes, lizards, spiders and of course the rich Australian bird life can be a part of the experience.

You can't beat the views, be they urban in Manly, or bush on Dobroyd Headland - genuinely awesome walk. I'd recommend starting at the Spit Bridge, getting off the bus there, then heading towards Manly - that way, your return trip transport options are a lot better! Highlights along the way - plenty of 'hidden' beaches along the Dobroyd Head... More

Incredibly scenic and diverse walk so close to a world metropople covering forest, beaches, harbourviews, greenery and suburban affluent houses. You can start at the Spit bridge or from Clontarf Beach, walk to Manly and have a have a nice lunch. I usually park at Clontarf Beach and then taxi back after lunch. Every overseas visitor just loves it!!!

We went along to Shelly beach and then on the scenic walkway, we got to see quite a few dolphins which was a real treat. Then from here we went up and got on a path to Sydney Harbour National Park, the views were breath taking, we saw barracks, shelters, where they had had the guns to protect the harbour,... More

Staying in Manly

Neighborhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbor Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
