A great walk but take water and sunscreen with you! It was not all coastal - we headed uphill a lot of the way but looking over the edge the views were beautiful. A long walk from Spit to Manly - but we enjoyed the experience and had lunch once we arrived in Manly.

My friend and I must have covered at least 10 Kms across Manly earlier today after getting of the ferry from Circular Quay. We walked along Manly Beach first then headed towards Shelly Beach before backtracking towards The Esplanade. A superb walk in good weather with scenic views.

Can't take my eyes off of you, beautiful scenery. Oh, yes, I may take my eyes off of you, if a lizard or another unknown animal shows up.

When you get off the ferry, it is a ten minute walk to Manly Beach. Free m there Either direction provides a nice beach walk on the ocean. If you go to the right ten minutes you will find yourself at Shelly Beach, a quiet alcove with a lovely breakfast restaurant (lunch too as I recall). All along Manly Beach... More

Very well maintained trail. Excellent signage. Many excellent vistas. Several "hidden" beaches. Many photo opportunities.

I had the wonderful experience of taking this walk hours after taking an international flight here. Breathtaking beach and sights along the way, I can't recommend the experience enough! Take a ferry over and discover this for yourself.

I've walked the 10km numerous times and it never gets old. So many scenic lookouts, wildlife, national parks and opportunities to go for a dip. Really is one of the best coastal walks in Sydney. Make sure you bring along a water bottle and snacks, you'll need them.

This was a great walk.. They put a lot of effort into the trail. There are steps made that are comparable to landscaping at nice hotels. We walked from Spit bridge to Manly then got lunch and took a ferry back to CQ

Staying in Manly

Neighborhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbor Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
