This is in my home town and I like to take the whole day. Stop in Manly for lunch at one of the great cafes - soak up the vibe, and return to my car near the spit bridge. It is a 10km walk but you can enter the track at many points to reduce distance. A fairly easy walk.... More

We walked on The Corso to the ocean beach and then returned to the harbor for a walk along the harbor beach. Check out the shark netting to allow kids to swim there.

Beautiful beach and promenade. Fun to watch the surfers and make sure you grab a shake and burger upstairs at Moo Burger.

After getting off the ferry we headed for the far end of the beach to do the magnificent walk. Great views, not at all strenuous. Lots of photos along the way. Once we were done we happened to be in time for the bus (which was a few minutes late), it took us more or less back into the centre... More

Took bus to spit bridge and got off part way up hill over bridge (not sure if would have been better to get off at stop on bridge). Walk from spit to manly took us 2 hours 40 minutes and was fairly strenuous in parts with quite a few steep areas/ steps.

From the ferry docking point to the presumed end of the Scenic walk is about 3kms. Manly's Pacific beach is well used by the locals and as with all of Australia that we have seen it is very well done. There toilets on the walk as well as numerous shops and cafes.

I will have to declare a love of this place since I grew up on North Harbour. The walk is now a well maintained introduction to paradise, native plants, beaches, views, the harbour and all that is wonderful about Sydney harbour

Did this 9km walk on a hot day, beautiful coastal scenery, but lots of ups and downs and narrow bits. So need to be reasonably fit, well worth the effort but the bus back maybe necessary for many, it was for us! !

Staying in Manly

Neighborhood Profile
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbor Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
