A magical place, we took the Manly ferry, it is quite a journey but very pleasent. Upon arrival it was easy to see that this town and beech was buzzing. Loads of sports on the beech, golden sands, great shopping and eating areas. there was a gym and a sports assualt course on the beech also. the sand was fine,... More

It is a fairly long walk, but well worth it, lots of colourfull birds, great trees, and breath taking views. Most of the houses here are to die for. Take a piknik and plenty of water and wine, and plan for an entire day...

I thoroughly enjoy catching a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly, then heading north, walking along the beaches and coastline. Take a cossie with you and enjoy a swim here and there...great fun!

It is only 30 min ferry ride from Circular Quay. Personally, we prefer the long ride (there is another fast ferry which said it only takes 17-18 mins from the pier to Manly) as it is more scenic as you can see the islands/landscape near Sydney centre. Manly is very accessible on foot, and you should definitely visit Shelly Beach,... More

This walk is accessible from the ferry. Turn left and continue past the Manly Aquarium and follow the shoreline. Beautiful little beaches and views over moored boats and out the Sydney heads make for a very scenic stroll.

Get a map/brochure from the information hut just as you get off of the ferry at Manly. The trail is generally well marked, but the detailed map from the hut is very helpful. The trail can be quite hot so bring a water bottle. There will be several places along the trail where you can refill. There is even a... More

Staying in Manly

Neighborhood Profile
Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbor Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
