On a beautiful Sydney day, there is no lovelier spot in the whole of Sydney that will thrill you so much. Going to the Opera House is a fabulous Sydney experience. To come out at interval and go outside and watch the water rippling and the lights of the city dancing all around the water is something very special. There... More

Utzon's iconic shell like building is not only extraordinary, it's mesmerizing and dominates one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. If you are lucky enough to score seats to an opera even better - sip champagne at the interval under the stars - doesn't get any better than that.

The guided tour was informative and interesting. The headsets menat you were able to hear the guide at all times. Only disappointment was the guide didn't share some of the interesting facts about the theatres. Will do the backstage tour next time.

You can't say that you've been to Sydney if you haven't been to see the Sydney Opera House. Marvellous structure showing great Engineering ingenuity!

The building is surely one of the architectural wonders of the world. Joern Utzon, a Danish architect, won an international design competition and the building commenced construction in 1964. After a very controversial and difficult relationship with the NSW Government, Utzon resigned in April 1966. At the request of the Government, another architect, Peter Hall, took over. He formed a... We were met by a delightful lady who was very passionate about her job at this iconic structure. She showed us several areas of note around the opera house including a couple of the theatres. I even managed to climb all the stairs to the various place we went to. Not bad for someone who has a couple of artificial... More

The opera house is so stunning in its appearance, and those wings seem to change colour depending on the sun's rays. It is such an enjoyable spot in such a beautiful location. The very large number of tourists there are testimony to its popularity.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
