Top ways to experience Sydney Opera House
The area
Address
Neighborhood: Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

Life Changing Experience
Jun 2021
It was an incredible experience!
Must do with the hubby and the children.
Susan and Fredrick loved it too.. got lots of good experiences for the kids.
Being there almost made me feel like I could be a professional Opera singer!
I almost broke out in that old song that goes like, "Gitchie, gitchie, ya-ya, da-da, Giitchie, gitchie, ya-ya, Mocha Chocolata, ya-ya, Creole Lady Marmalade."

Always a favourite...

I have taken this tour several times - both as a resident of Sydney and as a visitor and it never disappoints. The architecture of building is beautiful and the history is fascinating. the tour guides really know their stuff and provide substantial colour. I highly recommend.

Is it worth having a guided tour I must ask?
Jun 2021
We were visiting a while back but only just getting around to writing a review. We had an upbeat friendly guide, but she provided very little information about the history of the building. She instead led us to a space in a public access hallway. The actual tour had us go into two of the smaller theater spaces; nothing very interesting here I have to say. The only actual back stage, per say offering was a few minutes spent into the rehearsal room used for performance practice. This was Cool but hardly spectacular I must say. Look, It may be that we just had the wrong guide or came on the wrong day, but if this is what the tour is (because backstage sounds a bit more elobarate) I’d save your money and just go inside and look at the public spaces available for free and look online prior to your visit to learn its history. Perhaps we just got unlucky?

We have been to Sydney before just ended up walking around the opera house every time. We never actually appreciated what was inside. If you only visit once, then certainly take the tour.

An Australian icon
May 2021
Nothing identifes Australia more than the Sydney Opera House. For those of us old enough to remember, it has become a true Australian icon in our own lifetime. The architect may have been Danish, but the inspitation was all Australian

The symbol of Sydney
Jan 2021
Australia is a country which is mainly visited for its unique nature, but Sydney is a must-see, and in particular you should visit its symbol, the Opera House, whom everyone has heard about at least once in his/her life. Its unmistakable silhouette will hook you! It looks like a boat parked in the bay.

Amazing Australian Ballet at the Sydney Opera House
Jan 2021 • Couples
Amazing evening of ballet with the Australian Ballet doing some New York favourites: classical and modern. Marvellous auditorium to see them.

Not for a long time

Was staying in acc near central a few hours to kill walk to Opera House. About 1hr. Most impressive building. Great view to the bridge and Circular Quay. Back to central by train. Photos of the bridge and Opera House on the camera you will have to do it for yourself. Sorry. Cheers Peter Beachy

Opera House tour - Did not include 'off-limit' areas
Jun 2021 • Couples
I have just been on the tour. I believe the advertising bordered on misleading. We did not see anything that was 'normally off-limits' to the public, nothing behind the scenes. We only saw inside theatres that were open to the public when seeing shows. We did not see either of the two big theatres. The concert theatre was closed for refurbishment, which was not noted in the advertising. Quite disappointed.
