I think when the new penguin attraction opens, this place will be a must-see. As it stands now, it's still a good use of an afternoon. There's lots to see, and it will take some time to move through. The shark tunnels are good fun and you could spend some time admiring them from under the water. I made the... More

Good variety of sea life, well set up. We enjoyed our time here. Entered in on a Merlin Pass which gave us immediate entry on a Saturday, otherwise queue to get in was over 45 mins.

Sea Life is really a fabulous place to visit for all the family . Go on line and get a family ticket before you go it works out cheaper and there is less queuing to get in.

Arrived in the early afternoon and was served straight away for tickets. Must say it's rather expensive. Entering the Aquarium it started out quite "slow". They have tiny little tanks and everyone is crowded around trying to take photos. As you progress through the aquarium it gets a lot better and it has more space for people. Loved the Sharks... It is what it is. Huge aquarium with lots of fish. Great way to pass a few hours with the kids to keep them entertained! Informative and educational too.

Currently NSW teachers have free entry to the Aquarium (with or without a class). Children under 4 are free so my whole family was able to get in for free. I would advise to organise tickets in advance since the line to get in can be huge. So many great things to see. Very interesting for little kids, especially the... More

Finally a dugong! We came here in the hope of seeing this gentle sea-cow, and we did. We bought tickets online, well-ahead of our visit, which got us a discount. But we still had to stand in-line when we got there, to trade-in our receipts for the official tickets. Check their website for discounts on packages if you’re going to... More

Our family of 5 spent a few hours here amazed by the sea life. There is a big focus on the Dugong which my children found boring after a short while but the education was good. Take a moment to slow down as it becomes quite crowded and sit to view an aquarium, it's very relaxing.

Visited with a 6 year old and had a great time. Searching for "Nemo" & "Dory" was fantastic fun for little kids. Dugongs were a great new addition and something my son had never seen before. Can get very busy and the under water tunnels can bottleneck easily. This can test your patience, especially with excitable little ones.

Hi Ledan, We are happy to hear you had a great time on your recent visit and enjoyed all of our wonderful aquatic life. In the school holidays we become very busy and people like to go at their own pace whether that be slow or fast which can create some issues but we do have staff walking around the... More

the first part of the aquarium seems very outdated, and even though there are numerous signs asking people not to use their flash because it scares the fish, the tourists do so anyway. There needs to be an attendant in each aread to enforce this. At first, my young adult son and I were very disappointed. The aquarium seems very... More

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
