Aquarium is comprehensive exhibition of the many interesting examples of all sea life in the fascinating Australian waters. Tanks are nicely designed to create natural environment for both sea life and viewers. Has small tanks and large with some clear tunnels allowing fish to swim over for great view. Well maintained. Good visitor flow especially as you get further into... More

Having seen many aquariums the aquarium is good but their are some downsides - kids pricing- $30 for a 4 year old is $$$. Especially given you have to be lifted up to see all the smaller tanks.. my son is tall but he is 2-3 years away from not being lifted up to see all the exhibits - the... More

We visited here yesterday with our 6 yr old and had a fantastic time. Such a huge variety of displays, and varieties of sea life. Knowledgeable and helpful staff improved the overall experience. The new penguin enclosures were great. Loved the boat trip :) Glad we bought slightly cheaper tickets online as we saved money and missed the long queue.... More

We visited the aquarim with our Venture Card which saved us money. The penguin ride was a new attraction that I really enjoyed. There were sharks, sting rays and many interesting aquatic animals that could be seen. There are walk through tunnels that the aquatic animals swim above you. Really a fun time.

Went here about 8 years ago when kids smaller. This time my 13 year old described it as ikea. You follow the arrows and can't go back to look at stuff again. Not that we would. Not that much to see. Was so hot inside that it was almost unbearable. Penguin ride had no line so got cool relief for... More

We went on the hottest day. The aquarium was as expected with lots to look at. The penguin boat ride line was soooooo long and because of the heat we skipped it. The dugong and the sharks were the highlight for us. Our 15month old was very unsure at first, but didn't take long to adjust. Was a good day.

Bit of a ripoff for what you get . The penguin experience is like 2 minutes and you could have got the same experience seeing them through the glass. It was ok but overpriced, the gift shop is even more overpriced and dont even get me started on the photos... wouldnt go again. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable

The aquarium is nice, special is the tunnel to watch the sharks and other fish swim overhead. The artic boat trip is overrated.

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
