About Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tours
Hunter Valley Wine Tasting Tours specialises in small personal wine tours to the Hunter Valley. We operate a daily wine tour from Sydney as well as a daily local wine tour operating from within the Hunter Valley and also regular departures from Newcastle. Why not join us for a fun day touring the wineries of the oldest wine region of Australia? You’ll travel in comfort and style in one of our 14, 17 or 20 seat travelling coaches and enjoy private wine tastings at a great selection of Hunter wineries, large and small, enjoy a lunch at the Matilda Bay Brewhouse Cafe and sample local Binnorie cheeses and taste some chocolates during the day. This tour is a great way to experience the Hunter. The tour will be conducted by one of our team of experienced drivers/guides - all of whom have earned many favourable comments from other Trip Advisor members.

Our driver Neil was nice. We went to 3 wineries before lunch, 2 of which did not offer any food or nibblies (even to purchase) - this was not good! At the 3rd winery we did a cheese and wine pairing session, which was awesome & I highly recommende that! Then that was followed by lunch - again not good planning, straight after cheese and crackers! Lunch was variable - some meals were nice, some terrible - and a big difference in price, ie chaper if pre-orderd. After lunch we visited a lovely organic winery and sat outdoors which was extremently pleasant. But really, the planning was poor - instead of a super early pick up with most wimes in the morining, I suggest the cheese and wine pairing should be first and more wine tasting should be in the afternoon after lunch (not before lunch!) with a later return to Sydney! Also, the itinerary said "And a final temptation - a chocolate shop visit in the gardens village" - but when we asked about this (when noticing we were leaving the Hunter), we were advised we're not doing that - ??? really ??? - not good! Thank God the group of friends I was with made the day super fun anyway!

It was a pleasant wine tour, however our Driver was 20 mins late to the pick up, after the pick up had already changed from 930 to 945 then we were picked up at 10:10am. Allan was nice, but could of done some commentating about some of the area, fun facts or offer to play some music on the bus. The half day tour was a bit rushed considering we were running 45 mins behind schedule. The First winery saltire was lovely and fun, the other second winery were sloppy with pouring and not very hospitable, no pairing of any cheese or offering to buy some nibbles to enjoy the wine tastings with considering were still going to be on a bus for another two hours. Completely get a full day wine tour includes lunch and cheese but the half day should at least provide or offer guests to purchase a plate of cheese or something to eat over the course of 4 hours, it would of been nice the wineries to showcase their wines. As you could imagine were all starving at the end and very drunk! Haha not complaining but just a suggestion. The guests on the Bus made it fun. 🍇🍷

On the way home our tour bus broke and the sliding door wouldn’t close properly. We had to pull over about 6 times to try and fix it but it still wouldn’t close properly so we had to drive to Kurri Kurri to change buses with the sliding door semi open. What should have taken us about 40 minutes to get home took an hour and a half.

Really fantastic day with Scott as our tour guide. So well organised but relaxed at the same time. Three wineries, lunch with a wine and cheese pairing and a sneaky stop at a chocolate shop on the way home. Loved it!
