This walking tour was great. The day we went it rained on and off but the guide carried on and so did the group. We are glad we took the tour and got several recommendations for other things to check out in Sydney, and restaurants to try. The guide seemed determined to save us money during our stay in Sydney... Fantastic tour of Sydney! Great introduction to its most famous downtown sights and the history! Josh, our guide, is a history student and his enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of his hometown and the history really shows. He didn't just memorize his talk, but was able to answer all questions we asked him. The tour lasted just over three hours and... More

The main things about the tour was to get an overview and then decide places to go back to and spend more time at later. Both tour guides were good, spoke clearly, knew their stuff and were patient. The speed of the tour was a little on the slow side for me. We tipped $10 each at the end.

I did the 10:30 AM tour and the weather was great (no rain). They started 10 minutes later. It was a big group so we were split into 2 groups. Our tour guide was Justine, founder of Imfree tours. She was cool. Got a decent amount of history and information about Sydney CBD (Americans would call it Downtown Sydney). I've... More

If you like to explore places on foot and you want the inside scoop from a compassionate local, don't miss these walking tours. There are 2 options and we did both. I would suggest joining if you have the time. We explored alleys and byways that I would never have found on my own. My only regret is that I... More

It's nice to do this at the beginning of the Sydney stay to familiarize with the city and learn of city specific history. It also reinforces some of what I learned in Melbourne so it gets retained in my aging memory. It seems to me though that the coverage is smaller than the Melbourne one but then as Josh, our... Wherever we travel we always try and do some kind of walking tour, so when we found out about the free tour we just had to do it. The tour takes you through the history of Sydney, to places you wouldn't see if you were on your own and gives you lots of information

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
