This is the best and most enjoyable way to travel around this beautiful harbour. There are many great routes to try, suggested journeys are to Manly, to Parramatta and to Watsons Bay to name but just three. However there are many more great sites to visit. A must for any visitor to Sydney.

One of the best ways that you can enjoy the city is by ferry. This vessels allow you to experience the city and the views from the sea. The best day to enjoy it is on Sunday because is so much cheaper, you just need 2.50 $ for all the day!!!

My family and I bought the opal travel card from a newsagent $15.00 ad $7.50 ch, the cards are for use on ferries, trains & buses..... We boarded the Charlotte ( the ferries all have different names!! ) which leaves from darling harbour just walk past the maritime museum, the ferry was clean and prompt, our journey took about 10... The ferries operate on a regular schedule and are relatively inexpensive with an Opal card. If you want to experience the Harbour without doing a tour just catch a ferry and follow your nose.

We were stopping in Manly so the easiest way to get to Sydney was on the ferry. The ferry takes about 1/2 hour from manly and it's a great way of seeing harbour bridge and the Opera house. It's a great ferry i would recommend it to anyone and really easy to use you can use OPAL cards on the... More

When in Sydney the ferries are the only way to travel between harbours. These ferries are the cheapest and run like buses so they take a while to get to some of the stops. Most of the others are quicker but more expensive. Remember to get your OPAL card from one of the kiosks or a news agents and stick... More

We used the ferries to get from circular quay to Manly. Booked online which gave an electronic ticket on the iPhone, however, staff wouldn't accept the electronic version so had to wait for staff to print out paper tickets which kind of defeated the purpose of having an e ticket. Nonetheless the journey was without fault and took approximately 18... More

We took the ferry to Manly Island to see the famous beach there but also to enjoy the beautiful views of the harbor and shore along the way to the ocean. There is ample room to sit up top or below in the protected area. Our Opal card made it easy to get in line and pay, just as we... More
