Unless you know the Opal card system could be very difficult to navigate. The ferry it self was delightful. You have opportunity of seeing so many Sydney landmarks incredible and cheap

I usually travel the Manly - Circular Quay route. Either on my own before or after work, or with young grandchildren. Either way, an experience one never tires of with Sydney Harbour and foreshores providing the backdrop. There is a café that sells snacks.

It’s winter now so I would say 5pm is fine. By the time you get to the opera house it will be dark. But on the way you can have enough light to enjoy the ride.

You have to get off & then get back on as you need an Opal card that you scan on & off.
