I participated in a rogaine here recently and so made great use of the facilities in this Reserve and also was able to wander up and down the Cotter and Murrumbidgee rivers. The facilities are in good shape. The rivers themselves are very low at...More

Well maintained reserve. Welcoming National Parks Ranger. Even when full still peaceful. Close to river. Close to Canberra and the tourism sites. Would definitely go again. Discount for card holders. Reasonable priced.

Dam can be viewed from car if you are unable to walk to the viewing platform - some stairs and ramps. One can walk to top of dam about 1hr return walk.

This is a perfect spot a short distance from Canberra on the Cotter River. The discovery Trail to the new Cotter Dam is well designed and sustainably built to preserve the natural surroundings. It has a very good playground and BBQ facilities/picnic tables.

It's a reasonable walk from the carpark to the top of the dam and well worth it. Wear stout shoes (you cannot walk up in thongs, way to steep and rocky)
