I went there yesterday 2/23/18. Sadly the museum has closed and apparently all items will be auctioned off. What I could see from the outside looked very interesting.

Enjoyed the knowledge and enthusiasm of the volunteer staff who took us so personally on a tour of the heritage stock in their collection. Without which we would not have so fully appreciated the historical signifigance or the skills and time devoted to the restoration...More

Like many similar museums this place is run by a small team of railway enthusiasts. It is not the easiest place to get to but well worth a visit. It costs only $5 to get in. The main exhibits are railway carriages from the early...More

A small museum punching above its weight. Volunteers are restoring many interesting old carriages and engines. Not a great deal to see, but what there is is a pleasant trip down memory lane for us oldies. For the very young it would be interesting to...More

We went to the museum expecting it to be bigger than what it was! It is all run by volunteers and I would presume a tight budget. The trains you could go in were really good - well done to the volunteers who are restoring...More

The Canberra Railway Museum is the home of the mighty 6029 Beyer Garrett which has been brilliantly restored to running order by the volunteers. While this is a fantastic effort and was undoubtly a huge financial commitment by the museum, there needs to be a...More

This was a terrible waste of time and money. Nothing to see, nothing to do. Terrible food. One steam train running backwards on the track. The main attraction, the mighty Garrett was not fired up and was parked so no pics could be taken of...More
