Went here with the family one Saturday afternoon. Had a couple of beers which were pretty good. Decided to go back at in the evening for another as there were quite a few options. When I returned at 8.30 they were shut. On a Saturday. I know people make jokes about the Canberra nightlife but this was ridiculous. The hours... More

This was an alright joint to go to with some mates for after work drinks. Maybe I'm just too lowbrow but the craft beers weren't doing it for me. Unfortunately they don't have any lagers and most of the beers were pale ales of some sort. A lot of variety of the one product. Just wanted a solid cold brew,... More

One of relatively few craft beer options in Canberra, the Wig and Pen serves a decent range of above-average beers in a pleasant setting. A welcoming place that seems to attract a mix of ANU staff and beer-savvy senior students. Cheerful, friendly service, with a range of bar snacks and bar meals available.

Had several of the brews but the cream stout and the IPA from the "draw handpump" were the standouts. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. Unlike so many pubs that claim they know craft beer but really don't this place is the real deal. The food (fish and chips and a burger) were good. Proper pub grub,... More

A little short on ambience but more than made up for with the excellent selection of craft beers brewed in house. The sequoia ale was a stand out.

Located in the school of Music building at the Australian National University. The picture is misleading as it a picture of the old premises. . That facade has been transported as an internal wall covering the graffiti wall. The beer is all brewed in the brew room off the main bar and is visible from the bar. Their is a... More

First time I've visited since it moved some time ago, but still has great beer made on site, and with the feel of an English pub. Very conveniently located for many office workers in the city as well as the uni.

I've been to concerts at Llewellyn Hall many times and never knew this pub was tucked underneath. A pity because I would have enjoyed popping in for a drink at interval. Will certainly do so in future. Went for a drink this week with a big group of friends and acquaintances. Very noisy and hard to have a conversation when... More

Great range of fresh beers brewed on site. Or visit coincided with a celebration of dark beers, so lots of flavour on offer. Food menu is well priced and functional. Note that the kitchen isn't always open, so food options may be limited. Still worth stopping in for a pint or two!

The beers are made on the premises, with a dozen or more on tap. The styles range from lagers through to imperial stout, with new beers being constantly rotated through the lineup based on seasonal preferences. The atmosphere is cosy, with a range of tables, sofas and arm chairs to suit most sorts of groups. There are also some outdoor... More
