A wonderful slice of alpine heaven barely thirty minutes' drive from the centre of Canberra. Scenic roads, challenging walks (especially the epic Booroomba Rocks walk), stunning scenery and a great visitor's centre that should be everyone's first stop. One of the ACT's hidden gems.

Great many walks to go out and explore. Too many to list. We have done as kids, overnights, camping, day trips, even a birthday party.

I finally took the time to drive down south from where I live to visit this National Park. I called in at the Visitor's Centre first where I was able to obtain plenty of information to help me explore this area. I chose to do the Booroomba Rocks walk this time, but there are plenty of other places within Namadgi... More

Again another peaceful day out in Namadgi- a place where we have gone to over decades. Recommended to the visitor to national parks. The Namadgi visitors centre a great resource.

After visiting the Namadgi Information Centre, we headed for the Orroral Homestead and the Orroral Tracking Station ruins. While the Homestead was great to see and wander inside (in it's original state), it was the Tracking Station or rather what was left of the Tracking Station that held our interest. It's hard to believe that this was once a very... More

Writing this review to thank Michelle at the Visitor Centre for her excellent advice when I stopped by recently - her info & knowledge of the area led me and my partner to walk Booroomba rocks and we definitely were not disappointed with the view after the fairly moderate climb up. She took a lot of time and care to... More

Beautiful drive from Canberra to the park, winding up through the hills & across some lovely river crossings. The track is well maintained & easily followed. It is an 8.5 km return walk. The guide suggests allowing 4 hours but that would be a very leisurely stroll. The walk is not arduous & there are very few steep sections. Anyone... More

Went for a walk to Booroomba rocks. The road in is a little hairy, and you'd want a 4wd in the wet. Luckily our friends' car is not too gutless. A decently powered manual sedan should be right for the access road in the dry. View is beautiful. You can see some climbers sometimes. Walk is not too long but... More

So many walks and things to see and do in Namadgi - great for a hike followed by picnic lunch, or just drive to a picnic spot and relax under the trees

We like to wiz up to the old Honeysuckle space tracking site for a picnic and bush walk. You can walk out to an amazing lookout set on a cliff top. The picnic area has electric BBQ and there are basic facilities. The picnic area is wheelchair OK. Camp fires are also, permitted in season. A good place for tent camping... More
