Once again a visit to the Art Gallery was an essential part of visiting Canberra...how lucky we are as a nation to have this magnificent collection of these wonderful works. It's hard to say which area is better than another...there is something for everyone to enjoy. I could spend all day wandering around. There are also many sculptures dotted around... More

We visited the gallery to fill in an hour and stayed for 2 1/2 and could have stayed longer. The staff were very helpful providing excellent advise and directions. There are numerous changing displays as well as the permanent display. Very enjoyable visit

If you sit in the enclosed space in the room in the centre of the aqua coloured shallow moat and gaze up through the circular opening at the top to the sky you might see birds or an aeroplane or the jet stream. If you look carefully you'll see the light from the void bouncing off the wall making different... More

A great combination of excellent Australian art (including really good ethnic paintings, sculpture and fabrics) and some excellent examples from around the world. In addition some really impressive sculpture in the grounds which should not be missed.

Good coffee and cookies. Also have teas of many varieties. And muffins. Right next the big fountain and tables and chairs are under trees with a choice of sun or shade. Great place to sip, nibble and relax before or after the Great Art Experience. A lot cheaper than inside and not nearly as crowded. Loved it'

Entry to the Gallery is free with parking under the building (at a cost). The exhibitions and galleries are spread over several levels. If you are a student of art of a dedicated art lover you could spend the rest of your life here. If on the other hand you are like me and a little confused by some of... More

A good place to get lost among the art, always seems to be something new to see. Somewhere that you can always look forward to visiting again.

We did not allow enough time to visit the National Gallery but the time we were there was most enjoyable, especially the Sidney Nolan Ned Kelly paintings.

I love art and I find this gallery has very good permanent exhibitions as well as exciting once off exhibitions. I'm just sorry I was too early for their upcoming one.
