Fantastic collection of art held on behalf of the Australian people. Not going to run through the highlights of the collection as that will take too much room and undermine the visit.

A trip to Canberra to the National Gallery of Australia is a must. Excellent gallery with a great concentration of Australian art and international and always with great exhibitions- domestic and international.

We had an informative tour that took us across all the sections. Indigenous art was extensive and well presented. Other areas had many exhibits of various styles of art. A little disappointed as we couldnt see any reason why The National Gallery is a must...More

Its easy to understand why the Portrait Gallery is up high on Must Do's. From Captain Cook to Nick Cave, the faces that have made Australia. A well curated gallery and certainly worth your time. I reckon 2-3 hours would do it. Great work.

I love visiting the gallery but the options for young kids (ages below 4) could be better. A huge variety of art for adults to explore and the gift shop is fantastic.

The Gallery itself is interesting and The location is amazingly beautiful. The parking appalling - even worse if you're disabled. No proper coffee shop - just a tent on the footpath with a limited selection of items. Coffee shop staff are abrupt bordering on rude....More

It was definite a great experience to witness incredible diamonds, emeralds and other precious stones never seen before in Australia. My husband and I went on the last day of exhibition, bought premium tickets and worth it. We got to enter exhibition one hour before...More

Admission is free, nice area for kids to do art, and everyone is friendly and helpful (we had to find a lost grandma). I’ve been here many times and unless there’s a special exhibition the art on display is not that compelling, but it’s an...More

We took two hours. Earlier was better. But start of the day was very busy. Half an hour after opening. Do some reading before hand, it makes it even more interesting.
