Sidney Nolan and waterlilies

We spent about an hour wandering through the gallery. It is not very large. Highlights for us were the Sidney Nolan collection and Monet's water lilies.

I don't really like art, but it was interesting to walk through and see paintings that jump out at you.

I had a wonderful five hours wandering around the gallery. Thoroughly enjoyed the diverse collections which are well presented. Is easily acceptable for the disabled. Had a light lunch in the café which was also good.

My friend wanted to visit and not being an arty type I wasn't that keen but went along. There are many varied pieces of art some I regard as good and some I regard as rubbish but art is in the eye of the beholder. There are some paintings that are there that I could do which means that it... More

A nice relaxing way to spend a few hours, it was a lovely sunny day when my sister and myself went so the sculpture garden was also lovely. Nice coffee shop and a well stocked gift shop. With free entry what could be better.

Great place to check out some amazing art. We attended during the Mike Parr exhibit which was very very interesting(i do not recommend for children or teenagers, however, there is a fair bit of self harm involved which may cause distress to some. It was also great to see the famous "water lilies" by Monet.

Even if you just go through the "Australian Journeys" hall you will come out of this a more knowledgable person. I love this place.

My seven year old grandson and I spent several hours touring the gallery. Soaking in the wonderful atmosphere and looking at the paintings at exhibits. A great chance to take your time and talk about art with little ones without rushing. It was not crowded and has a wonderful peaceful atmosphere.

THE NGA has an amazing collection of not only Australian art but also Asian and International . We loved the Sidney Nolan collection with the Ned Kelly series which all made more sense when reading the narratives!! The Aboriginal collection is amazing as is some of the traditional works by early Australian painters. The Dianne Arbus photographs were on display... More
