Nowhere in all my world travels have I ever encountered an avenue like this that truly honors the significance of a country's Armed Services in all its campaigns from the Boer War to the present. There are many streets that have been named after campaigns or national heroes and trees planted, but this avenue is unique in the displays of its monuments to each of its Armed, and in one case, civilian services. A must visit to honour and observe a mark of respect.

I was restricted by a knee injury on this visit so could not give the Parade Walk proper attention. But it is very impressive with various statues, memorials, fountains and I did 3 circuits in the car trying to take it all in. Every facet of Australia's war service is represented on both sides of the avenue as it heads up to the War Memorial. Extremely well done in my humble.

It's just a big street and along it are several memorials to various different wars. It is all quite spread out.

Monuments and memorials for all those who served.
Some brilliant, some good, but all memorable and worth the time to stop and reflect.

ANZAC is an acronym for Autralian and New Zealand Army Corps. The Memorial commemorates all the Australian and New Zealand units and formations who fought in Egypt, Syria and Palestine from 1915 to 1918. This memorial was erected in 1965, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ANZAC landing Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. It was the first memorial on ANZAC Parade Walk. The Walk was intended to anchor the centre of the nation's capital, with the Parliamentary Triangle at one end and the National War Memorial at the other. The Walk is made of crushed Canberra house bricks, which, when walked on make a sound resembling an Army formation On Parade. It's quite a long walk, but it is rewarding.

Lots of monuments dedicated to our servicemen and women representing various wars. The memorial monuments are vey detailed, each with a plaque containing some information on the specific war the monument is related to. The walk is long, but easy, the terrain flat, and there are plent of seats to be able to rest if you get tired. There is no rush and its worth taking to time to look closely at the memorials, and read the information.
